American TotW #22: Always Build Rifleman

This tip is mostly for the American player in a 2v2 team game who starts off with a Weapons Support Center (WSC) build. Despite starting with a WSC and possibly teching to T3 (Motor Pool) or T4 (Tank Depot) the American player should always look to build a Barracks and get out Rifleman, this is even more important when your partner is a British player.

We do know one thing that the Rifleman are the backbone of the US Army and in CoH they have many great abilities (nades, stickies, suppression fire). These abilities play a major factor in late game fights, especially when used in combination. Look to gain veterancy on your Rifles and you will have an even more deadly arsenal at your disposal.

It has been in my experience that too many players who start with a WSC center in a game tend to rely on Paratroopers and/or Rangers as their main infantry (late game) and this should NOT be the case. I believe that the best way to play as Americans is to use Rifleman as your main infantry fighting force supplemented by Para's and Rangers (2 squads of each is really all you need). Now don't get me wrong, you can win games by spamming Para's and Rangers, but this is a lame way to play and it also is not the smartest way to play.

When your partner is British, "back-teching" to Barracks is even more important. You can't rely on the British player to provide the main infantry fighting power, it just isn't a smart move. Your WSC with a British partner should be used to help him (the Brit) get settled in, then rush to a M8 or T17, then look to back tech to Barracks. And if you aren't going Tank Depot, then spend your fuel on all Barracks upgrades, once again, the Rifleman abilities are invaluable late game.

Finally, if you are playing against good opponents, there is no reason to think the game will be short, so you will need Rifleman and all their abilities late game; don't stay "married" to WSC.

Therefore, if you play Americans in a 2v2, always (look to) build Rifleman!
