Hi, i'm not an expert either, but here are my observations:

- The first thing that needs improvement is your multitasking;you NEED to be giving orders everywhere without leaving units to die or forgeting to recruit new units (500-1000 MP floated,it should be used to get things). But that will only get better with practice, so keep playing.
- Retreat. In the beggining you were getting your units back to base manualy, thats a waste of time.Have no shame, if some poor volks are dying on the field, hit that button.
- Mines. You planted just one, mines are super important for Wehr.In my games they are aways the MVP; protecting flanks and stopping armor in their tracks. In lower levels, no one uses Minesweepers, so go ahead and plant them on roads, important routes and chockepoints.
- Cover.Without vet,Wehr have the worst infantry armor, so don't fight in the open, get your infantry behind something.
- Blobing. In this game, every bullet is a stat.If you fire a bullet in a crowd of people, you have more chance to hit than against a single target; so move your troops with some spacing between them.

You got some things right, like a medibunker(important) and salvaging(very important).
Regarding americans, usualy, if you don't see fast BARs, it means they are going for a fast M8, so get that Pak before veterancy. It's 10 minutes in and you are not seeing an m8, he's going for a Sherman; get 2 Paks. USUALY, not every player is like that.

Lastly, watch replays and streans and try to emulate the PROs.

I'm the other guy, any tips. I'm just winning now by spamming riflemen and commandos(whatever they are called) and sneaking capture points all day.

Watched some pros to and will continue too, the game is very fun (but very draining)

Welcome to the OP and to ojay to the GameReplays forums.

It's a bit dated but try reading up some strategies in the Strategy Forums the guides will give you some ideas what may work for you.

Usually for US only get four rifles, if you need a jeep either get it as your first or second unit, depending if there is an early WM sniper deployed.

For WM and this is map dependant and varies what you are comfortable with. At least 2 Volks squads, then balance out with MG/bike support possibly a sniper. As new to playing competitive COH games a sniper at 340mp investment is lot to lose if you cannot micro or protect him enough.

The above advice from tkemberli is good. For WM play check out content that has been posted by Inverse, strat guides and "youtube" videos, which can be extremely helpful.

Also there is content on "youtube" posted by Rogers and Pounder which will also help you through the basics.

Many of these guides relate to earlier patches but the principals are still the same.

Most of all have fun and good luck playing this great game.

I would suggest to watch streams (twitch.tv) and replays of other people in 1v1, but mostly streams. This is where you trully get to see what an experienced player actually does. Avoid streams of people using WASD keys to move around their screen, they practically waste a lot of their hotkey usage on just moving their screen while they could be spending it elsewhere.

Try Inverse (twitch.tv/InverseTV, sadly he is one of the few still streaming CoH1 every now and then). It is in my opinion one of the greatest streams in terms of grasping influence for your own playstyle. He is quite fast and you might get confused, but keep watching and soon you will have a pretty good idea of what's going on with the game. Also, make sure you practice your American faction first, since it's pretty much the easiest for begginers since all you really use Early game is Riflemen.
