I'm pretty new to CoH but watching the game I think I saw a few things that stuck out at me.

For one I thought that both player's first 2 serious armour units were lost rather easily. The Calliopes and Stugs. I also thought that Axis didn't use his Tiger aces very effectively. Allies kept most of his Pershings alive because he kept them close to other units for support and repaired them. For the most part the Tiger aces were alone and got overwhelmed. Though I was suprised a few times to see a Tiger shoot a Calliope Sherman in the ass and get only slight damage (that is BS since a frontal hit by most german tanks on a Sherman would have half the time brewed up a Sherman so a rear armour hit from an 88 being only glancing seems rather absurd).

I also saw many squads of Volks being suicided into superior allied forces and effectively wasted. I mean thinking about it a more effective strat even if you wanna sac you squad is to launch at least one panzerfaust at an allied squad to do real damage. Also keeping at range if you haven't upgraded to MP40s would mean that you could distract him longer from cover while you did something else.

I loved the mines in the main drag that decimated the 2 M8s and Calliope. That was a beauiful demonstration of thought out mining.

ANother thing about the Axis armour micro I found was that he retreated often when in a superior position (ie Tiger withhigh health vs. Calliope with 50% or less) and sometimes stood ground when it seemed prudent to pull back. It says alot that while the Allies always maintained 2 Pershings that Axis never had 2 Tiger aces at the same time.

One other thing that I saw was that Allied decimated most of Axis base but that he pulled back and stayed away when there was literally no defense guarding that base. Its easy to see when theres no FoW but at a time when there were 2 Pershings and 1 Calliope guarding a single VP I figured even 1 Pershing with some infantry or a Halftrack could have raided the base again and levelled his HQ without compromising the defense of the VPs. This especially came to mind when basically all that Axis had left was a few Pioneers and 1 damaged Tiger Ace. Nobody was guarding the Northern most VP while there was alot of idle armour near the southern point. At the very least I figured Allied could have scouted for the whereabouts of that last Tiger.

But I also noticed one last thing that struck me. I'm not sure if it was intentional but I saw that when Axis had his last Tiger Ace half damaged and retreated back into his base he moved off to the Northern most VP and hung around for a few seconds so that he could attract the 2 Pershings away from the Southern and Middle VPs. It worked and Axis almost wrestled away the Southern point (or middle I forget). Almost worked. My only queston is was that a real lure or was it coincidental because the way the Tiger hung in the middle of nowhere and the Pioneers went at those points with great timing makes me think it was intentional.

Sorry to be a verbose noob but I wanna see if anyone can tell me if my analysis is off in anyway. I'mno guru and I likely won't be but I am very fascinated by the tactical theory of this game.

If you read all that thanks for not flaming me. thumb.gif

If he would keep his stugs/infantry close to his tiger I would barage the hell out of those stugs/infantry. Best tactic is to spread units vs calliope barages. There was no tactical error from Ahenians side, try playing vs me or Ahenian and see how fast you lose your armor.

Mp40 volks only work from close range and fausts only kills 1 unit most of the time and max 3 units if your lucky for 50ammo? Best thing to do is save for a firestorm what Ahenian did.

First of all their is fog of war and I always had rifleman with stickies if he comes close he gets stickied if he gets sticked he has a damaged engine if he has a damaged engine I can hunt him down with armor/at guns. You can only have 1 tiger ace on the field.

1 Pershing had a damaged engine + 10% health and 1 calliope and 1 pershin cant take a tiger without losing something. And you have to keep in mind that manpower is to important to waste on scouts that late game.

Ofcourse that was a lure thats why I send 2 rifleman squads to counter it before I went to attack that last tiger.

You have no idea what you are talking about...

Thanks for sparing me the humiliation of being rude! thumb.gif I love good players. They give you that warm and happy feeling inside.

But thats what i wanted. I wanna see where Im a total nub and learn the REASON why something that looks off is however correct.

Thanks for the help man. rolleyes.gif

Also I might add that I meant that when his Tigers were alone that there wasn't anyone there to help. I'm pretty sure you can have groups together that are spread out as well attacking the same enemy. I know the risks of a barrage with tight groups. But it just seemed to me that the Tiger was always literally fighting alone. You easily flanked the Tiger and confused him as to who to fire at. I didn't mean have all his units abreast.

I'm not THAT nub.

Except for that "You have no idea what you are talking about", Aniketos was quite helpful. happy.gif

This was a very well played so please forgive me when some cons look a littlebit childish but "no cons" is a little bit harsh against other reviews tongue.gif

Aria/Allies V.S. Ahenialol/Axis

IPB Image

Semois

IPB Image
Aria

Doctrine: Armor
BO buildings: Barracks, Supply center, Motorpool
BO Units:Engineer, riflemen, jeep, riflemen

Pros
thum.gif Kept your jeep alife
thum.gif Repaired all your vehicles if they where dammaged
thum.gif Very good tank micro
thum.gif Good tank/infantry combination
thum.gif Holded enemy fuel point for a long time

Cons
sad.gif Didnt OP
sad.gif Lost much points during early/midgame
sad.gif Wasted 2 calliope barrages

Player rating 8/10

Tips:
-Dont lose so many points at the start. It almost went wrong...
-Try to OP. You get a better economy. (In this game it was different because you didnt used much fuel.)

IPB Image
Ahenialol

Doctrine: Terror
BO buildings: Whermachtquarters, sturmarmory, Panzercommand
BO Units: Pionier, Volksgrenadiers, MG42, Volksgrenadier

Pros
thum.gif Very good tank micro
thum.gif Very good use of mines
thum.gif You got hold of his fuel for some times
thum.gif Very good artillary barrages
thum.gif You OPed your fuelpoint
thum.gif Very good use of MG42/Volks combo. Aria got many losses from it.
thum.gif Good retreating and reïnforcing

cons
sad.gif Your tank micro slipped once in this game. Your stug killed your tigerace cry.gif
sad.gif Placed your MG42 bad so he could flank it so you lost control of your fuel point.
sad.gif Lost your first puma rather easily

Player rating 8/10

Tips:
-Your mine usage was excellent. But dont build them so near to eachother. 1 Tank can drive easily over 2 and it wont has its effect vs the infantry who want to capture the VP point.

Game Rating: 8/10
Entertainment Rating:9/10

Game summery:
A very entertaining/skilful game starting with Ahenialol gathering much territory. He managed to cut Aria off and get hold of his fuel. Aria stroke back to capture Ahenialols fuel point for a pretty long time which slowed his first puma. Ahenialol got almost full mapcontrol when his stugs are conquering the fields but Aria stroke back with his calliope and his barrage. After that it was Aria who struggled to stay allive because his VP point where running out. Aria managed to destroy the first tigerace (actually ahenialol helped him a bit tongue.gif ) and could get his pershings on the field. The 2 pershings and 1 AT-gun managed to destroy the second tigerace and could destroy a large part of Ahenialols base. But the 3th tigerace destroyed the AT-gun and 1 pershing so the other pershing needed to retreat. AFter this it was Aria who had the control. Ahenialol still tried to capture VP points to kill Aria but he couldnt make it. (countdown stopped at 13)

omg what an analysis XD
