Eldar Overview

The Eldar are one of the oldest races in the galaxy, as well as one of the least numerous. Once the rulers of vast amounts of space, they suffered terribly during the creation of the Chaos God Slaanesh and lost most of their civilization during his horrendous birth, a time known to the Eldar as "The Fall". They now cling to life on giant starships known as Craftworlds, exerting their influence on the rest of the universe where they see fit, and refusing to throw away Eldar lives in pointless, trivial battles. In battle, they overcome their foes through martial skill, powerful technology, and cunning hit-and-run tactics. Their common soldiers, the Eldar Guardians, are regular citizens of their Craftworld, periodically trained in battle tactics and called upon in times of war to serve as a militia. Their elite warriors are known as the Aspect Warriors, soldiers who specialize not only in warfare, but in one particular aspect of it, hence their name. They are quite varied, ranging from the Howling Banshees, who use their speed and skill to close quickly with the enemy before using their power swords to slice them limb from limb, to the Dark Reapers, ranged specialists who disdain melee combat and instead prefer to shower their enemies from afar with explosive warheads. Others are more peculiar, such as the Warp Spiders who use teleportation technology to "jump" from point to point on the battlefield, ambushing enemy squads and then teleporting away before reinforcements can arrive, and the Eldar Rangers, masters of infiltration who use silenced rifles to keep their enemies' heads down until they can be properly dealt with by other, more destructive troops. Their armor units are just as fast, graceful, and deadly as their infantry, usually coming in the form of hovering tanks on anti-gravity propulsion systems, combining the power of a battle tank with the mobility of a small skimmer craft. On the field, they rarely meet the enemy head-to-head; it is much preferred to use their speed and highly unique units as a spearpoint, rather than a hammer, striking at one location at a time, only to destroy it utterly and then move on to another.

This page will detail the units that have been confirmed, in one way or another, to be present in Dawn of War II, and will update periodically as more information is made available.
