A replay can be mundane, mediocre, and just plain boring. On the other hand, a replay that accumulates vast amounts of tender 'wub' are considered not only entertaining, but masterpieces constructed by the artist with an eye for Dawn of War 2's technical nuances. Newcomers to the community may think to themselves, “What exactly is a wub?” Simply put, they are votes that viewers can give a replay, essentially tagging it as a worthwhile game to watch. After countless submitted replays, three members of the GameReplay.org’s community have earned the title of
wub champion.
At third place stands
Anik3tos, known for his participation in the Battle for Supremacy episode and contender in various tournaments. This veteran, a master in Space Marine tactics among other things, has amassed 413 wubs in 23 posted replays. Congratulations and many thanks Anik3tos for numerous memorable games.
Second place is occupied by the one and only
Kibbles. With 23 posted replays, Kibbles has a cumulative wub score of 490. Most notable is probably his knockout replay where he fought a gruesome battle against Naaldak’s relentless Tyranids. Not only did Kibbles win, but he hit a Dawn of War 2 replay wub record with 131 wubs for that one game. Kibbles continues to be a valuable member of the community and will be remembered as a Warp-Spider pioneer. Much respect and thanks is in order for this Dawn of War 2 expert.
Finally, the current wub-champion, who has claimed the right to the replay throne is;
Umpire1. With a whooping total of 872 wubs, Umpire1 has continually offered not only incredible entertainment, but also has provided training snippets useful for gamers wishing to improve. As of July 9, 2009, he has posted 43 replays, including 34 replays that have moved on to the popular member replays list.
As for Umpire1 himself, it would be great to say that it all started in a log cabin on a peaceful little river down by the prairie."Where it actually started was a 14K modem and Quake2, back in the days when you spent as much time chatting with your opponents as actually trying to hit them with your Keyboard aim and 6 sec delay." His first posted replay was established on February 25, 2009 where he faced off against the high level Tyranid player FeyHach. He continued to post replays and obtained the most wubs from his replay posted in March 15, 2009 where he faced off in an epic battle against rtHannibal. Though many cheered on the wub champion, he fell victim to the tank bombardment of his Orky foe.
To quote the man himself: “Dow2 is not all micro, it's about knowing your opponents next step, and positioning yourself thereafter.” The replays from these players, which have been closely scrutinised by the community to secure their high ratings, are excellent showcases of that sentiment. On behalf of the
GameReplays.org community, many thanks to all the players for their commitment and contributions to the game.
