So
Demigod's demo has been released. You do not know what you are really doing. But the game looks fun. Here is a comprehensive beginners guide to Demigod. Hopefully this will fill you in enough to understand the very basics of the latest release from Gas Powered Games. This guide is going to cover gameplay basics.
Your first decision when entering a game is what Demigod to chose. There are eight of them and each one feels and plays completely different from the rest.
Unclean Beast
Unclean Beast excels at his class. As an assassin Demigod he does very well in one on one fights. His Ooze special ability causes him to take a little amount of damage per second, but does plenty more damage to Demigods and minions around him with the ooze flying off his back. With his Bestial Wrath ability, he can increase the amount of straight damage he does for a short time. While a good offensive Demigod, he has no support abilities and is not the best structure destroyer. He makes a great addition to any team though.
Lord Erebus
Lord Erebus is a powerful vampire Demigod with syringes in his shoulder pads constantly feeding him blood to satisfy his undying appetite. Erebus is a formidable General Demigod. When minions and creep die around Erebus, he has a chance to convert them to Night Walkers with his Conversion Aura special ability. He also has the ability to blink away with his Bat Swarm ability, damaging everything in his path. Erebus is a tough Demigod to kill.
Regulus
Regulus is a fallen angel Demigod with a crossbow the size of himself. Regulus can fire high damaging precision shots across the map with his Snipe ability, throw mines on the map, and even sprout wings causing him to do extra damage per shot. Regulus can do a lot of damage in a small amount of time, but if this damage is prevented then Regulus usually needs to run. Regulus is good for his across the map sniping, dropping mines at key places and chasing Demigods but there are other Demigods better than him in a straight fight.
Sedna
Sedna is your healing Demigod. She casts straight healing spells and eventually can create a persistent healing aura. She can stop other Demigods from casting with her Silence ability and can do straight damage with her melee Pounce ability. A great support Demigod, she is also difficult to kill in a straight fight.
Oak
Oak is the staunch defender knight type. Carrying a large axe and a strong shield he is arguably the most well rounded Demigod. He can become invincible for a short period with his Shield ability. Slow down Demigods, decrease their armor, and do straight damage with his Penitence ability. Damage everything around him with his Surge of Faith attack and turn dead minions into Spirits to fight for him. He does have a weakness though. With all these special abilities though Oak is heavily mana dependent. His Shield ability also has a long cool down so do not expect it to save you every time you need it.
Torchbearer
Torchbearer is a mage who has mastered fire and ice. But its also split his personality. No other Demigod can come close to out damaging a well build Torchbearer. While switching between his Ice and Fire forms Torchbearer receives bonuses for a small time after switching forms. His Rain of Ice and Fire Nova spells do more area of effect damage than any other Demigod can match. His Fireball attack is the single most powerful straight damage spell in the game. This however makes Torchbearer mana dependent. So stock up on mana increasing items when playing him.
Rook
Rook is a walking castle. He can be upgraded to attach more weapons on his head and shoulders. With his Power of the Tower ability he can pull up Towers of Light from the ground as stationary turrets. Or he can throw a boulder to stun you. Rook can also "eat" structures to heal himself with Structural Transfer. While Rook's damage per second scale is off the charts, he also is the largest Demigod. He makes an easy target and his slow speed does not make up for it.
Queen of Thorns
Carried on a chariot moved by large beetles Queen of Thorns is a multi form Demigod like Torchbearer. Her area of effect spell Ground Spikes significantly reduces the armor of everything it hits and her Bramble Shield takes damage until the shield collapses. You will not be running away when she uses her Spike Wave attack, as it reduces your movement speed a great deal.
Now, each Demigod has significantly more abilities than described here. This is just to get you a feel for what Demigod you want to play. Now for some actual gameplay basics.
