Heroes of Newerth

After our biggest tournament yet, as we promised, we are officially announcing our 5th tournament. Firstly we would like to congratulate FFS of winning the tournament in style. They displayed superior team work and skill. There were some disappointing no-shows, which is unprofessional and disrespectful to other teams, the viewers and the tourney organizers. The rules do state that teams that do not show are to be banned from the subsequent tournament, but given the number of teams who failed to show and the DST changes an exception will be made just this once. Any teams who fail to show from this point on will be banned from the following tournament. Secondly we would like to announce our tournaments ladder (more details will follow). We wish everyone good luck and have fun.



Tournament details:

• Date: Sunday, November 8 at 18:00 GMT (Time Zone Converter)
• Teams: There will be a cap of 32 teams each consisting of maximum 8 players
• Game type: 5v5, Normal, All Heroes, Alternating Picks with bans (*read the explanation on the bottom)
• Rules:
  • 1 Puzzlebox per team
  • 1 Ring of Sorcery per team
  • 2 crowd control items per team (Kuldra's Sheepstick/Stormspirit)
    These rules can change at any time. It is the players responsibility to read and stay up to date with the tournament rules.

• Location: All games will be played in the Clan Gamereplays channel.

*Alternating Picks: Each team gets 3 hero "bans" alternating 1-1-1-1-1-1, then each team picks like they would in random draft, 1-2-2-2-2-1, the team that banned first picks first. Better seeded team always bans and picks first. Bans are announced in the lobby before the game commences, if a team selects a hero that has been banned, they are to remake within 5 minutes or the match is forfeit (if the opposing team will not accept the vote remake, then THEY forfeit).

Fine Print:

Sign-up: Sign-ups are starting today and will be open till Sunday, November 8 at 12:00 AM GMT. To sign-up for the tournament the team captain has to send a PM to the tournament manager, KissKiss with the following information:

• list of in-game names of minimum 5 and maximum 8 payers,
• in-game name of the captain,
• PSR of all players and a team average PSR
• preferred playing server of all players (USW, USE, USS, USC, EU, UK, NL, JPN...)

Date and time: To convert the tournament starting time to your time zone, use this Time Zone Converter. The tournament will be finished within an estimated 3-5 hours. Please plan your time accordingly!

Seeding: Seeding will be done by last tournament results and by teams average PSR.

Match result and referring: There is no need for referees in game since you could always take a screenshot as proof of cheating. When you finish a game report results to the referees in the tournament channel with the ID of the match.

Playing servers: Every team captain when sending the sing-up PM is also required to include the preferred playing server for all his players. So, if the teams can't decide on what server to play, referees will make that decision, by selecting the server that will be good for the majority players. Referees will decide the server only if the teams, can't do it by themselves. When a Referee selects a server, the game must be played on that server!

Tournament ladder: We will be making a tournament ladder page very soon where you will get more information about it. This is how the pointing system looks like:

• Tournament Winner (1 team) = 20 points
• Tournament final loser (1 team) = 15 points
• Semi-Final losers (2 teams) = 10 points
• Quarterfinal losers (4 teams) = 5 points
• Round of 16 losers (8 teams) = 2 points

Player misbehavior: Any team member that is misbehaving (flaming, trolling and/or spamming in chat, especially during the bans/picks) will be warned once and if he continues to behave badly, will have to be replaced by another team member. If that team doesn't have anyone available to replace him, that team will lose the game, their team will be disqualified and banned from our next tournament.

Other: Teams that don't show up for their play time and are more than 15 minutes late will be disqualified. At this point the other team will receive a bye for the round. The team that was disqualified will also be banned from our next tourney.
