The Vector is a newly developed American sub-machinegun originating in 2006, with its success lying with a huge reduction in recoil and muzzle climb when fired.
TDI, the manufacturers of the weapon, refers to the operating system as the
Kriss Super V. The system claims to compensate for recoil by utilizing moving parts that travel down into a recess behind the magazine. This means they travel vertically rather than horizontally in most conventional weapons, and forces encountered when they reach the end of their travel act downward, reducing muzzle rise. This is where the weapon gets its odd looking design, as well.

Weapon Explained
MechanicsThe Vector does considerably less damage than all of the other Sub Machine Guns, but compensates with its high rate of fire. You will find yourself with an advantage in close quarters combat, where rate of fire is of a greater importance than sheer damage. However, over medium and longer ranges, you will be at a severe disadvantage, being outclassed by almost every other weapon in the game. The Vector does 25-20 damage. Meaning it delivers 25 damage points at close range, and falls off to 20 damage points over long range; with 23 damage at medium range. Compare this to the UMP which does 40-35 damage, you can see how little stopping power this weapon actually has.
The biggest draw of the Vector is its high rate of fire, which is much more than any other Sub Machine Gun in the game. It fires in game at 1000 rounds/m, compared to the UMP (the lowest rate of fire) at 630 rounds/m, and (the second highest) the Mini-Uzi at 888 rounds/m.
TargetingAiming down the sights…
Bullet spread looks like this:
There are two bullet spreads here, separated with the black line. The red dot shows where they were each started from. This is to demonstrate the randomness of the Vector's recoil. Sometimes it will go skywards, other times it just moves left and right.
SightsThe Vector can be equipped with every weapon sight in the game, each of them having pro’s and con’s, they will be outlined here.
Red Dot Sight: The precision Red Dot Sight is the post popular gun sight for the Vector. It increases the visibility when aiming down the sights, and allows for a clearer field of view when firing the weapon.
ACOG Scope: The ACOG Scope, while it adds range to the weapon, is not recommended fo the Vector. Because it does such low damage over long range having the ability to accurately fire over such range is really unnecessary.
Holographic Sight: The Holographic Sight is another popular choice for the Vector. Mostly seen equipped with going for an Assault Role, the Holo sight can add great precision, while having a nice reticule for you to target.
Thermal Scope: Really a poor choice for the Vector. The Thermal Scope gives a large amount of zoom to your weapon, which would be worthless for the low damage capacity of the weapon. Even for the added benefit of the Thermal Vision, it would be best to keep the Thermal scope off the Vector.
AttachmentsRapid Fire: Can be useful if you intend to stick only to close quarters. Getting caught in even a medium-long range gun fight can prove costly. The significant increase in recoil will make handling while aiming down the sights more of a chore, and should probably be paired with Steady Aim and hip fire plenty. It also might be needed to add Extended Mags with the Bling Perk; those 30 rounds will go quick with Rapid Fire.
Silencer: The Vector can prove to be a worth Stealth weapon, so the Silencer is an obvious choice. Notice, however, that your damage decay does fall off a bit sooner than it does without the attachment, however, in close combat situations it shouldn’t put you at a severe disadvantage. You should have the element of surprise on your side to compensate.
FMJ: Usually you do not want to find yourself wall spamming with the Vector, so the FMJ is not an obvious choice. However, if you do modify your weapon slightly and have the right perk selection, FMJ could be beneficial in an Assault role. Firing through thin sheet metal will make it so it’s not even there. However, you will still have difficultly firing through cinder blocks and thinker materials, so be cautious before you just start firing through anything.
Akimbo: There is not much strategy involved with Akimbo weapons, but typically you see the UMP as the most "Akimbo'ed" SMG. The Vector does too low damage, and in conjunction with the wider hip accuracy, Akimbo is probably an attachment better suited for other Sub Machine Guns.
Extended Mags: Because of the high rate of fire, Extended Mags can be one of the best choices for the Vector. In a situation where you are confronted with multiple enemies, being able to down both quickly is of the utmost importance. Being able to cut a reload out of the equation can mean the difference between winning the battle and losing. However, the Vector does have an already quick reload.
Techniques
RoleThe Vector is a middle of the road, "do-it-all" type Sub Machine Gun. Most often you see the Vector with a simple Red Dot Sight and Stopping Power: Useful in both close quarters and over medium range. Usually you want to stick to indoor environments and tight corridors. On larger and generally more open maps the Vector will often be outclassed. In general, the Vector is probably better suited for a stealth position, as there are better choices for assaulting Sub Machine Guns
Recommended Class Because the Vector is generally better suited for stealthing, a recommendation is as follows:
Vector + Silencer
G18 + Silencer
- Tactical Insertion
- Flashbang
- Scavenger
- Cold-Blooded
- Steady Aim
The key to this class is the Tactical Insertion. Once you get behind enemy lines, drop it down and you’re always behind. Be smart with your placement, being sure to put it in an inconspicuous location, but close enough to the action to be able to return quickly. Scavenger will keep you active and Steady Aim will come in handy in tight situations where aiming down the sight is too slow.
GameReplay's Verdict
4/10An average Sub Machine Gun, at best, the Vector really only is advantageous as a stealth weapon, and in very close quarters. It is almost always outclasses by other Sub Machine Guns, and in some cases an Assault Rifle. There is nothing the Vector can do, that another SMG can't do better. So for this reason the Vector gets a 4 out of 10.
