RPD Master GuideThe RPD Light Machine Gun was developed in 1944 in hopes to bring the Soviet Army a superior suppressing weapon to the front lines for use against the Germans in WWII. However, it was realized that the war was winding down, and mass production of the weapon did not begin until 1953. Since then, the RPD has seen extensive action in Vietnam, Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan, to name a few.

Featuring a longer barrel than the L85 as well as a bipod, the L86 has a greater range of effectiveness and a larger muzzle velocity. The L86 LSW cannot be used for sustained fire as it is not belt-fed, however it is used to support a section during attacks using suppressive fire. It is very similar to its assault rifle counter-part, as it is simply a light support weapon conversion. Other machine guns that are based on assault rifles include the AUG HBAR and the RPK. It is still in use to date with the British Army however has been re-designated a Designated Marksman Rifle as its heavier barrel makes it much more accurate than the original L85 assault rifle.

Coming soon!M240 Master GuideThe FN M240B is a medium machine gun featured in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. It is a belt-fed, gas-operated medium machine gun and the US designation for the Belgian FN MAG 58. The main differences between the two is the addition of a Picatinny rail on top, a new stock, a heat shield over the barrel, and a hydraulic buffer similar to that used in the M60. The United States military has used it since the mid 1980's, replacing the M60, with infantry using the M240B variant.
Coming soon!AUG HBAR Master GuideThe Steyr AUG HBAR is a variant of an Austrian assault rifle originally designed in the 1970s. The Armee Universal Gewehr ("universal army rifle"), was adopted by Austrian forces in 1977. It has since become the standard small firearm for the Austrian Bundesheer and national police units, as well as both the Irish Army, New Zealand Defense Force and Australian Army, increasing its popularity worldwide. The AUG is considered one of the first successful 'bullpup' weapons to be adopted, in which the magazine is repositioned behind the trigger to create a more compact weapon without sacrificing barrel length. The HBAR variant is the LSW version of the standard AUG assault rifle and is used as a light machine gun, similar to the L86 LSW. However, the model shown in campaign is a regular AUG A2 assault rifle, as it lacks the larger magazine and built-in bipod on the barrel. In essence, there are two AUG variants in game, the AUG A2 in Campaign, and the AUG HBAR in Multiplayer, but Infinity Ward gave both the same name.
