On July 14th,
Nintendo announced the return of their much venerated
Nintendo Entertainment System, but with a surprising twist! The gaming giant is releasing a small-scaled version of the retro console that has been adapted and modified for the modern age.
As mentioned on their official site:
The NES Classic Edition system is a miniaturized version of the groundbreaking NES, originally released in 1985. Just plug the NES Classic Edition into your TV, pick up that gray controller, and rediscover the joy of NES games.
Play NES games the way they're meant to be played—with a full-size "original" controller. The included NES Classic Controller can also be used with NES Virtual Console games on your Wii™ or Wii U™ console by connecting it to a Wii Remote™ controller.
Games like Pac-Man™, TECMO BOWL, and Dr. Mario™ are even better with a buddy. And you won’t have to fight over a controller. Use your Classic Controller™ or Classic Controller Pro™ (sold separately), or buy a second NES Classic Controller.

Included in each
NES "Classic Edition" purchase are the following:
NES Classic Edition system
One NES Classic Controller
HDMI cable
AC adapter
30 pre-installed games

As mentioned above, the
NES "Classic Edition" can be connected to your TV set via the included HDMI cable and for those looking to relive those memories of playing on the
NES with a buddy, you would be slightly disappointed to know that a second controller is not included in the set. However, as quoted from their site,
Nintendo puts the price of the
NES "Classic Edition" at about USD$59.99 and individual controllers at USD$9.99, both mean suggested retail price.
A whole set of classic games are included with this comeback, the full list of which
can be viewed here, but there is no news as to whether more
NES games would be made available for purchase in the future or whether gamers are restricted to the above 30 only.
Are you going to be one of the many who will be queuing for your
NES Classic Edition set come November 11? Do tell us your thoughts and opinions on
Nintendo's latest move in the comments section below!
