C&C 20th Anniversary 1vs1 Tournament - Sunday 30th August

By Inspector RaGe - 21st August 2015 - 08:08 AM

Greetings Comrades,

It has been 20 years since Command and Conquer was first released so the team at Red3.org and GameReplays are proud to announce Red Alert 3 C&C 20th Anniversary 1vs1 Tournament! Like all tournaments we run it will be on C&C: Online.

You will need to be set up with C&C: Online so make sure you do that before the day of the tournament. Remember, GameReplays is not the place to get help with C&C: Online. Head to the Revora support forums for help with C&C: Online.

The total prize pool for this event is $110 and is sponsored by Inspector RaGe and 4del. The first place prize is $60, second place is $30, and there will be a random draw of $20. The prize pool will only pay out if we have 8 participating players. If the prize pool does not pay out all donations will roll over to the next applicable event.

Since there's apparently confusion, yes, you do have to play all your matches to be eligible for any prize. Anyone who forfeits, is disqualified, or does not properly participate will not be be eligible for any prize. All prizes are in USD and will be transferred via PayPal. If we cannot transfer the money to you then we will work with you on how you want your winnings handled.

The first map of each round will be based upon map elimination, loser picks thereafter. Please click the show button to learn exactly how map elimination works as you are expected to know this information.
Map Elimination Guide

Map elimination applies to the first game of every round. The process is to determine what the first map of a series will be, in as fair a manner as possible. If both players agree, either player can start the elimination, but if you can't decide quickly who should start, then the player with the lower seed number will eliminate the first map. In this example image JPBP would eliminate the first map. Both players will alternate eliminating a map, one at a time, until only one map remains. This is what the process would look like:
JPBP: -Temple Prime
Vindies: -Cabana Republic
JPBP: -Snow Plow
Vindies: -Industrial Strength
JPBP: -BattleBase Beta
Vindies: -Infinity Isle
At this point the only map left is Fire Island so that is the first map to be played. Some players will use a "-" to indicate they are subtracting the map, but this does not always happen. Note that often times in games players will use abbreviations such as bbb, cr, fi, is, ii, sp, and tp. If your version of Red Alert 3 is not in English this may be confusing since the abbreviations may be different.

If you can't decide who should start the elimination the player with the lowest seed number on Challonge will eliminate first, check the bracket to find out who this is. If you don't know what that means ask a referee. Factions, including random, must be chosen before elimination begins and cannot be changed afterwards. If a player changes faction after map elimination is complete the other player can decide to counter pick, do nothing, or restart the map elimination process. The same map cannot be played twice in any series. Same rule applies to each match of each round.

Maps Pool

  • BattleBase Beta
  • Cabana Republic
  • Fire Island
  • Industrial Strength
  • Infinity Isle
  • Snow Plow
  • Temple Prime
This event will be a single elimination event. The match-ups will be BO3 up to the semi-finals, which will be a BO5. The finals will be a BO7.

Note for standard maps: you can play on the community patch version(1.12.2) if both parties agree, if not the standard version of the map will be played.

Fair Play

All general Fair Play Rules apply. If a reminder is necessary, the use of the following bugs/exploits will lead to disqualification:

1. Empire's Sudden Transport glitch.
2. Allies placing structures around an outpost before it is finished deploying.
3. Peacekeeper splash damaging walled structures.
4. Dolphin splash damaging land structures.
5. The "Mini-MCV" bug in its entirety!
6. Intentional DCs or game crashing.
7. Invisible infantry glitch.
8. Dropping Tengus on buildings intentionally.
9. Building structures on top of infantry.
10. Stacking Tengus to allow for mass point defense drones.

Registration

All you need to do to register for this tournament is to post your in-game name in the registration topic linked below. Only register if you're going to be able to show up on the day of. There's no point registering and creating brackets around 24 players if only 14 show up.
Registration officially closes at 13:30 GMT on August 30th.

Check-in

The check-in period will be between 13:00 and 13:55 GMT after that point the brackets will be drafted and made official. There will be an official check-in thread that will open at 13:00. To check-in: simply post in the check-in thread and include your in-game name if it's different than your forum name. If you check in and you don't participate you may be banned from any Red3.org tournaments between Jan 1st and Feb 1st. If you can't play, don't check-in, if you can't check-in, don't register. Only players that are registered will be allowed to check-in. Only checked in players will be in the bracket. If you have a situation that would cause you to not be able to check-in, but you can still participate then message Commissioner Sybert or Inspector RaGe.
You will have 15 minutes to begin your games after the brackets are posted. Brackets will likely be posted by 13:05, but this depends on how late players check-in. You must start your games by 13:20 or you will be disqualified.

If you're early then you're on time, if you're on time then you're late and if you're late you're disqualified! There is simply no fun in sitting around waiting on people so 15 minutes is the max allowed. If you need to take a break inform your opponent and the ref. At most five minute breaks will be allowed if needed. One break per round per player. If a player is found to be abusing this freedom or failing to inform the necessary parties or not returning on time you will be disqualified at referee discretion.
Match-ups will be completely random as the seeds will be shuffled just after officially closing check-ins.
