Version 2.01 to Unofficial 2.02 Version 2.0

General Changes

- Archer bombard radius increased to 40 (from 30).
- Porcupine Formation now gives a +20% armor boost.
- Fog of War no longer lifted above active siege weapons anywhere on the map.
- Brigandage/pillage abilities (resources for kills, not Wildman attack) no longer stack.
- Speed boost removed from horde bonus, bonus now indicated by red circles above units' heads (from no visual indicator).
- Fear resistance now indicated by sparks emanating from affected units (from usually no visual indicator or misleading visual indicator).
- Unit-specific abilities (e.g. Barbed Arrows, etc.) now correctly work when multi-selected.
- Banner Carrier Upgrade:
--- research cost decreased to 500 (from 1000);
--- research duration decreased to 20s (from 30s/60s);
--- equip cost decreased to 150 (from 250/300);
--- equip duration decreased to 5s (from 10s).
- Bounty values:
--- standardized to 25% of buildcost except for heroes and banner carriers;
--- hero bounty value base set to 10% buildcost;
--- banner bounty values set to 5;
--- all Fortress expansions now have bounty values.
- Mechanical siege weapons (Trebuchet, Ballista, Stone Thrower, Mordor Catapult and Dwarven Catapult):
--- pierce resistance increased to 1% (from 5%);
--- frost and magic damage resistance increased to 80% (from 100%).
- Structure armor changes:
--- all structures' resistance (except creep lairs) to hero ranged damage doubled;
--- Fortress, Fortress expansion, and Fortress Citadel resistance to pierce damage increased by 80%;
--- creep lair resistance to pierce and hero ranged damage increased by 40%.
- A player can no longer build a new Fortress if he already has five currently on the map or under construction.
- Fortress/wall arrow tower expansion costs reduced to 400 (from 500).
- All Fortress Siege Engines now have the same armor as the corresponding non-Fortress siege engine.
- Fortress armor upgrades:
--- cost decreased to 1500 (from 2000);
--- armor bonus decreased to 40% (from 50%).
- Builder Battle Towers:
--- cost decreased to 400 (from 500);
--- buildtime set to 45s (from 30s/60s);
--- arrow upgrade cost decreased to 200 (from 500).
- Walls:
--- "small" wall segment costs reduced by 25%;
--- gate upgrade cost decreased to 300 (from 500);

- Fire Breath (Adult Drake, Drake Broods, Summoned Dragon, Balrog, Wyrm) damage now dealt in damage over time form.
- Orc Laborers:
--- command point requirement decreased to 2 (from 5);
--- scalar vs. Ents increased to 400% (from 300%).
- Type classifications of many units corrected:
--- many archers now properly classed as archers;
--- many pikemen now properly classed as pikemen;
--- many summoned units now properly classed as summoned;
--- many cavalry banner carriers now properly classed as cavalry (rather than infantry);
--- Shaku now properly classed as cavalry (rather than infantry).
- Numerous AI improvements, some from DC patch.
- Brutal army difficulty cheats increased to 20% (from 15%).


New Buffing/Debuffing System:

- Buffs:
--- Rallying Call, War Chant, Land Powers (except Frozen Land), Howls, Charges, Fell Strength, Gorkil's Skull Totem;
--- standardized +50%/+50% damage/armor modifier;
--- FX effect is a solid yellow circle (previous Leadership FX);
--- Buffs don't stack with Buffs, stack with everything else.
- Leadership:
--- Leadership given by powers, heroes or structures (Fortress Banners, Heroic Statues, Eye of Sauron, Frozen Land);
--- standardized +33%/+33%/+100% damage/armor/experience modifier;
--- FX effect is a hollow yellow circle (previous Buff FX);
--- Leadership doesn't stack with Leadership, stacks with everything else.
- Spells:
--- standardized +50%/+50% damage/armor modifier;
--- Darkness, hero buffing spells (Mighty Rage, Dark Glory, Glorfindel Starlight);
--- FX effect is a starburst unique for every spell;
--- spells stack with different spells as well as Buffs and Leadership.
- Debuffs:
--- passive debuffs (Dread Visages, House of Lamentation, Fortress Blessed Mist, Gate Watchers);
--- standardized -25%/-25% damage/armor modifier;
--- FX is a new violet smoke aura;
--- do not stack with one another or Nullifiers.
- Nullifiers:
--- active debuffs (Bats, Crebain, Enshrouding Mist, Mouth of Sauron Doubt, Wormtongue Venomous Words, Dain Mighty Rage, Freezing Rain);
--- standardized -25%/-25% damage/armor modifier, cancels Leadership before applying modifier;
--- FX is a new violet smoke aura;
--- do not stack with one another or Debuffs.
- All basic modifiers, unless specifically restricted to certain units, now use the generic buff recipient object filter. (Examples: Darkness no longer buffs Trolls; Rallying Call now affects units rather than hordes.)
- All armor values now indicate the actual armor bonus recieved when the power is active by itself. (Example: Rallying Call now gives +50% armor rather than +100%)

General Hero Changes:

- Mini-hero hordes:
--- can no longer be buffed (except by their own abilities where applicable) or debuffed;
--- special abilities now last for the specified durations;
--- no longer heal and respawn members of nearby battalions;
--- heal rate altered to 10 health/second;
--- respawn rate reduced, now takes 30s rather than 10s to respawn a new member.
- Heroes can no longer fire arrows from within towers unless they specifically have a basic ranged attack.
- Heroes now have standard buildtimes, command point requirements, experience requirements, and experience awards based on cost:
--- Cost < 1100: 20s buildtime, 20 cp, requirements 50-100-200-300-400-500-600-700-800, awards 15-20-25-30-35-40-45-50-60-75;
--- Cost 1100-1400: 30s buildtime, 40 cp, requirements 50-100-200-300-400-500-700-900-1100, awards 20-25-30-35-40-45-50-60-75-100;
--- Cost 1500-1900, Karsh, Shelob: 40s buildtime, 60cp, requirements 50-100-200-300-500-700-900-1100-1500, awards 30-35-40-45-50-60-75-90-105-125;

- Hero revival costs standardized to 75% of the hero's buildcost (illogical revival cost fluctuations resolved).
- Hero revival times now start at double the hero's buildtime at level one, then scale up to double the initial revival time (4x buildtime) at level ten.

Ring Heroes:

- Galadriel:
--- buildtime decreased to 180s (from 300s);
--- speed increased to 65 (from 55);
--- health increased to 7500 (from 5000);
--- hero damage resistance increased to 50% (from 100%);
--- 300 Siege damage added with a 40% damage scalar vs. heroes;
--- Galadriel's death explosion blast damage increased to 2000 Magic (from 500 Magic);
--- now immune to Cripple and paralyzing weapons (e.g. Soul Freeze);
--- Terrible Fury palantir image fixed (from sharing Sauron's), now has a unique FX effect;
--- how has an animation when summoning Tornado;
--- no longer classed as infantry; can no longer be healed by effects that do not specifically heal all heroes.
- Sauron:
--- buildtime decreased to 180s (from 300s);
--- health decreased to 10000 (from 15000);
--- hero knockback added;
--- pierce resistance decreased to 20% (from 5%);
--- hero damage resistance increased to 50% (from 100%);
--- preattack delay decreased to 1000 (from 2000); firing duration decreased to 1833 (from 3667);
--- damage decreased to 1000 Magic + 1000 Siege (from 2000 Magic + 2000 Siege);
--- Sauron's death explosion blast damage increased to 2000 Magic (from 500 Magic);
--- now immune to Cripple and paralyzing weapons (e.g. Soul Freeze);
--- no longer classed as infantry; can no longer be healed by effects that do not specifically heal all heroes;

Neutral Structures:

- Inns:
--- health reduced to 2500 (from 3000).
--- Inn Dunedain Rangers (Men):
----- buildtime increased to 45s (from 30s);
----- horde size now 12 (from 10), matching Ithilien Rangers;
----- upgraded damage decreased to 90/30 (100/50), matching Ithilien Ranger's stronger 2.02 attack.
--- Inn Hobbits (Elves) now recruit at level five, consistent with their max level. However, they gain no damage/health bonuses and have the same experience awards.
--- Inn Men of Dale (Dwarves):
----- cost increased to 300 (from 150);
----- buildtime increased to 60s (from 30s).
--- Inn Wildmen (Isengard):
----- buildtime increased to 30s (from 20s);
----- horde positions improved;
----- now have access to Torches, Heavy Armor and Banner Carrier upgrades;
----- now have correct banner carrier upon reaching level 2;
----- now regenerate correctly upon reaching level 2;
----- experience and level bonuses now match those of standard Wildmen.
--- Inn Corsairs (Goblins) buildtime increased to 45s (from 25s).

--- Angmar Inn unit now Dark Rangers (from Wildmen), cost 300 buildtime 60s.
- Outpost:
--- health increased to 1500 (from 1000);
--- resource production decreased to 50/10s (from 60/10s).
- Ruined Tower health reduced to 2000 (from 3000).
- Shipwrights now slowly heal nearby friendly ships.
- Signal Fire capture bonus altered to 25%/44%/58% (from 25%/50%), rewarding capture of a third Signal Fire.

Neutral Lairs and Creatures:

- Lair armor pierce resistance increased to 30% (from 50%).
- The CP used up when capturing lair units with Untamed Allegiance now matches, as closely as possible, the CP returned upon the captured units' death.
- Goblin Lairs:
--- Goblin Warrior hordes:
----- lair cost increased to 30 (from 25);
----- lair buildtime increased to 25s (from 15s);
----- now can be multiselected with Goblin Warriors purchased from a Goblin Cave.
--- Goblin Archer hordes:

- Spiderling Lairs:

- Wight Lairs:
--- now drop three treasure chests (rather than two);

----- slaved Wight health now matches normal Greater Wights (health increased to 2000, from 250).
- Fire Drake Lairs:

General Power Changes:

- All power point trees completely reordered to encourage multiple power point paths.
- Rallying Call is now a Buff-type modifier (from Spell).
- Crebain and Cave Bats no longer prevent the construction of new structures underneath them.
- Tom Bombadil:
--- speed increased to 60 (from 45);
--- leadership ability removed;
--- no longer affected by Glorious Charge;
--- now immune to Cripple.
- Industry:
--- duration decreased to 300s (from unlimited);
--- radius decreased to 100 (from 200).
- Untamed Allegiance recharge time reduced to 180s (from 360s).
- Cloud Break recharge time reduced to 360s (from 450s).
- Barrage damage decreased to 250 (from 400).
- Freezing Rain:
--- now a Nullifier-type modifier;
--- duration increased to 180s (from 150s).
- The Wyrm:
--- health increased to 13000 (from 10000);
--- now classed as a hero and has a hero icon on the bottom of the screen;

--- delay between shots now always 10 (from 10-500);

Miscellaneous Changes:

- Added some voices originally cut from the game, most notably for newly-recruited heroes.
- Collector's Edition graphics now tied to capture of One Ring (regardless of game version).
- Incompatible replay version tooltip edited to indicate the possibility of a foreign language replay.
- Tooltip for clan matches with over four players now includes instructions for manually reporting the game, rather than indicating a maximum player restriction inconsistent with ClanWars rules.
- 5+ Players lobby renamed to Unofficial 2.02; Clans lobby renamed to BT2DC ClanWars.
- Command sets and upgrade slots standardized for each faction (e.g. upgrade slots for particular upgrades identical for different units).
- At Fortress, heroes and fortress upgrades are now in order of increasing cost.
- "Exit All" buttons have been added for all structures with multiple garrisonable slots.


Men of the West

- Dormitory fortress expansion cost decreased to 400 (from 500).
- Trebuchet fortress/wall expansion cost decreased to 900 (from 1200).
- Houses of Healing:
--- cost decreased to 800 (from 1000);
--- healing behavior fixed, now respawn horde members in multiple hordes rather than one horde at a time.
- Fortress Oil Cauldrons:
--- cost decreased to 1000 (from 1500);
--- recharge decreased to 30s (from 120s);
--- can now be set to auto ability (matching Dwarves).
- Ivory Tower cost decreased to 1000 (from 2500).
- Barracks:
--- Banner Carriers can now be purchased from a level two Barracks (instead of from the Blacksmith);
--- upgrade cost to level two decreased to 200 (from 500);
--- upgrade cost to level three decreased to 400 (from 1000).
- Stables structure now fires arrows at level 3.
- Marketplace:
--- Marketplace cost decreased to 1000 (from 1500);
--- Iron Ore moved to Blacksmith;
--- Siege Materials removed;

----- now granted with completion of Marketplace (no longer requires seperate research);

--- pierce resistance increased to 40% (from 45%).
- Rohirrim:

- Trebuchet:

- Battle Tower, Mirror of Galadriel, and Heroic Statue repositioned in porter commandset.
- Vigilant Ent fortress expansion:

--- no longer unable to throw rocks over buildings.
- Floodgates fortress expansion:
--- cost decreased to 750 (from 1500);
--- preattack delay decreased to 1s (from 2.5s);
