This Guide will tell you how to get important skills, how to improve them and in the end how to win the games you play.
First we have to think about what skill is, in my opinion skill is the combination of several things like scouting, micro, macro, reacting on special situations, your choice of the BO and your Build Order.
Here is a list about what you should be able to do and what you should know.
Scouting
Scouting should tell you important facts about your enemy, like what strategy he is using or what units he is building.
Here is a list how you can reach this aims:
- Scout early game the whole map, so the whole map is visible.
- To determine what strategy your enemy is using is a quite harder part. First you should look at the deck of your enemy, maybe there are some important facts like no age II unit shipments, with means that he most likely going to FF (going fast to the Fortress age).
Also should you scout for your opponents barrack, if you scout a forward barrack he's most likely going to rush you. While if you scout a barrack in his base he's most likely not going to rush you. - In which part of the guide do you mention more of this? I think it's important to mention that you best can run into your opponents army with the cheapest/fastest units you have. It's for example not a good idea to sacrifice your explorer for this, while you can receive as much information with a Strelet.
- An other very important point of scouting is to find out were you can get your resources and where your enemy is getting his resources so you can raid him

Macro
Macro means how you are managing your economy. This is a very important fact, so the aim is to use always all of your resources. This maybe sounds easy but it can be very hard so you may forget to set a new way point from your TC so you have after the fight 500 wood left.
For improving your micro you need to get more experienced at playing Age of Empires III that means you should be able if you see that you get a bit to much wood to know how many villagers you have to switch to food to have perfect balance again.
Also you have to test your BOs several times to get perfect macro that means you only produce as much wood as you need for your houses and your units, and only as much food you need for villagers and units.
