Build order: balanced opener (2 oil and 2 aluminum refineries), taking banks and building another oil refinery to his right.

PROS:
  • Very aggressive play by utilizing the surveyor to take out 5 KMAXes and then follow up by building bunkers to clean banks and block expansions. Even forced DeltaSlayers to relocate his oil refinery back on the hill where he already had 2 refineries. That was 1800$ out of his pocket. Nice timing!
  • Utilizing early stingers to deny the Cartel from scouting.
  • Nice tusk 2 Stryker + Hercules push to clean up Delta Slayer’s base.
CONS/TIPS:
  • Building two power plants for no reason. You had no buildings at 3 minutes that used power, only a barracks. Try and build one at a time and only when you need them.
  • Watch your resource transporter numbers. You had too many of them on your second aluminum refinery.
  • Try to put a refinery down from time to time when you have a couple of free seconds. Your side of the map was far from being saturated.
Delta Slayers (Random-Cartel)
Build order: heavy oil opener, 2 oil refineries on one location, barracks and then takes bank using contractors. Fast expands to oil to his right next to the bank before going for aluminum.

PROS:
  • Fast expanding even under pressure.
  • Nice multi-tasking. Tried to put some pressure on the opponent while being attacked and pushed back.
  • Nice economy management. I liked how you kept an eye on your KMAX count and utilized double refineries.
CONS/TIPS:
  • You’ve gone for a heavy oil build (3 oil and then taking aluminum), which allows early infantry aggression and taking banks. Yet, you weren’t aggressive, instead you were fast expanding. This could’ve worked better on a bigger map. If you are going for this build order on a map where players are close to each other, try and make use of that oil by spending it on more troops (maybe even another barracks), while slowly expanding and securing banks.
  • There’s no reason to put down multiple refineries if you can't afford them.
Remember: Cartel refineries are the most expensive ones (1800$). Only do that if you can afford them both, which starts around 2800$ with a steady income of a bank, HQ and refinery (other expenses such as training troops are counted in of course). In the end you will pay the full prize, which is 3600$. Otherwise, build one at a time.
  • Built more turrets than necessary. Try not to overreact on your opponents attacks. Try to outsmart him by placing anti-tank units (Shershen, Viper or Scorpio tank) next to the road or block the bridge with them. This way the mobile build unit will not be able to cross the bridge and deliver its payload. Maybe in this case two well placed Scorpios or Shershens would’ve sufficed.
  • Tech too early. You got black ops before 9 minutes, but didn’t make use of that tech. Maybe it wasn’t such a good idea to early tech. Maybe you could’ve built more troops and take back your side of the map before attempting to tech. As Cartel you are the slowest in teching up. The reason for that is because you need to get a Tokamak Reactor up before getting any of the better black op buildings and only after that you get to start building higher tier units. With black ops alone you have access to the scout CGS, punishers and some upgrades. Maybe some of those combined with Shershens could’ve helped.
  • Try to place your refineries in a way that they don’t overlap with each other’s resource nodes. This way they will mine out all resource nodes at the same time. You will be able to sell both refineries when they are empty and preserve APM for other activities. There will be no need to check back whether the other one is empty.
Entertainment value: 5 / 10

Nice short game. Well executed aggressive strategy by galesyoo. Nice utilization of bunkers to put some pressure on the Cartel player although it felt a bit cheesy. Short game, not many interesting battles. GG

@Araton yep this is ranked.

Just wondering, did you all notice that ranked games are already seldom played? Im just curious since im always having a hard time finding ranked games. In my opinion, playing rank is a plus since it could really help players improve a lot especially watching the replays. Im from Philippines btw. Is it just me? or is it just my connection that sucks since im from asia and most players in AoA are from America/Europe etc.
