I decided to write/resume an article about it.
I will give you some main informations of what we know so far based on official news and some on internet leaks.
In August, Amazon celebrated the end of Season 1 filming by posting on their official Twitter account an image describing a figure looking at a vista with a white city and, much further away, the outline of two curious trees.
Main Informations What is it ? Amazon's TV adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-Earth book series.
When it will be released ? September 2, 2022 (the series will premiere in more than 240 countries)
Where can I watch it ? Amazon Prime Video.
BudgetAmazon has spent 250 millions for the rights only (pre-production).
If they complete the reported five-seasons, it can be that the entire production costs around 1$ billion.
This would make the series the most expensive series of all-time.
In April 2021, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Amazon will spend $465 million in U.S. dollars on the first season of the show alone.
Is Peter Jackson doing Amazon LOTR show?In 2018, He was confirmed to not be involved in the series.
How many actors ?There are 40 actors, according to the official casting page.
The series would feature writers, directors, producers, costume designer, visual effects artists and more from movies or show as Game of Thrones, Star Wars, The Avengers.
Middle-earth will return to New ZealandAmazon announced that the series first footage begun in New Zealand, returning to the country where Peter Jackson shot his six movies and by using the primordial beauty of the Second Age of Middle-Earth.

Most of the older characters in "
The Lord of the Rings" and "
The Hobbit" were still in their youth, including Elrond, and Galadriel. Elendil, the ancestor of Aragorn wasn’t even born until a few thousand years into the Second Age.
At this time, Sauron was yet to become the undisputed dark lord of Middle-Earth and the great island nation of Númenor still stood tall as a mighty force.
Dwarves still lived in Khazad-dûm (before it was called Moria)
The High Elves lived on Middle-Earth in great number and the kingdoms of man were yet to fully take root on the massive continent.
Sauron’s invasion and subsequent capture by the Númenoreans, the Fall of Númenor, and the forming of the Last Alliance of Elves and Men by Elendil and Gil-galad.
Although,
TheOneRing.net reports that Sauron, will not appear in the first season of the Amazon series.
SeasonsThe first season should have around 20 episodes and with new episodes dropping on Prime Video each week.
There should be 5 seasons (waiting on agreements).
To note that even before the filming started, Amazon renewed the series for a second season.
