Spotlight with Gahvin

By Earendil - 20th May 2020 - 18:02 PM

Good day everyone, GameReplays.Org brings to you another edition of our Spotlight interview series with the players of Battle For Middle Earth (BFME). Centauer's guest for today's segment is one of the up-and-coming players of our community, Gahvin.

GameReplays: Hello , thanks for doing this week's Spotlight. Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Gahvin: My name is Danny and I am from Miami, Florida in USA. I am 26 years old and I work for an IT company as a network administrator.

GameReplays: Tell us a bit about your online gaming history?

Gahvin: I used to play a lot of Runescape and World of Warcraft, then played League of Legends for many years.

GameReplays: Why did you join GR?

Gahvin: I rediscovered BFME at the end of college and played on the T3A server for a few years and Tower heard about GameRanger and told me to come check it out.

GameReplays: What is your favorite game?

Gahvin: League of Legends tied with BFME

GameReplays: What is your favorite game genre? Why?

Gahvin:Favorite genre is MMO but I don't have enough time like I did as a teenager.

GameReplays: So, how did you first get started with BFME?

Gahvin: I was big LOTR nerd as a kid and got BFME and Rome Total War for Christmas when I was 10. I played QM and was like 20 wins 50 losses but mostly played custom maps, especially RingWarz.

GameReplays: What do you like so much about BfME, that has kept you playing the game for years?

Gahvin: I am a huge LOTR fan and played every game about it, but enjoyed the RTS style a lot. It was a lot more friendly to learn than StarCraft was and the heroes/powers make it very fun. I am still learning a lot and I would say that is the biggest factor keeping me playing as well as friends I have made.

GameReplays: What is your favorite army and Match-up?

Gahvin: In 1v1 I like to play Isen, I feel it is hardest army to master well. I like to play Isen vs Rohan.

GameReplays: What is your favorite map, and who is your best Team game partner?

Gahvin: Favorite map is fords of isen. I like to play with Corazon, we have nice synergy and don't speak much in games besides beacons. He does not get tilted/angry or flame me/anyone which helps me stay calm if we lose, and has much potential. I also like playing with Bwel, even though he flames me he teaches me a lot about the game and is funny guy with high skill. Best partner ive played with is Latino cause the guy is so good. You don't have to think or try hard cus he is watching everything and tells you where to go, what to make etc.

GameReplays: What would you do to change or improve game?

Gahvin: Keep testing 1.09 and making it better, more maps as well.

GameReplays: How did it feel to play BfME when you had your "noob" time and what is the difference to your current status as a player?

Gahvin: Was more fun to play on T3A and everyone think I am god there, but I think being worst player in the room of pros is much better if you want to get better at the game, even if I am losing more.

GameReplays: During your time in the community and the game, you played many games vs old players / pros.. Tell us about that time who was the best in your opinion , which game were OP , or some of the nicknames of old players which you remember ?

Gahvin: I did not play vs any old pros but watched many replays. I liked to watch Scop and Chyna the most, they are so good.

GameReplays: Playing against a Forces of Darkness or Forces of Light opponent?

Gahvin: FOL

GameReplays: Killing a high ranked Gandalf the White, or wiping out an entire castle with a Balrog?

Gahvin: Kill castle with Balrog

GameReplays: Army of the Dead or Balrog?

GameReplays: What do you like (or dislike?) most about the BfME community?

Gahvin: I like that it is small so you get to know everyone much better, and like moderators cleaning GameReplays of gibberish posts for us.

GameReplays: What games are you active on currently, and how do your experiences there compare to those from BFME?

Gahvin: I play League of Legends and I think it helps me with hitting and running with heroes/units, and certain micro tricks.

GameReplays: How many hours a day do you spend playing games?

Gahvin: 5?

GameReplays: How has gaming affected your life?

Gahvin: Negatively for school/girlfriends but positive for friends and fun smile

GameReplays: How high is the influence of micro skills to win a game in 1v1 and 2v2?

Gahvin: Need good combo of macro/micro to win in 1v1, 2v2 is more about decision making, teamwork, and strategy.

GameReplays: Which competition improved your game the most: Quickmatch, Clanwars, Tournaments or For Fun Games?

Gahvin: For 2v2 (it will be) Quickmatch, it let(s) me play with many different allies and maps. For 1v1 CW and tournaments, as it is harder to get ffgs/qms for 1v1.

GameReplays: When you're not gaming or posting on Gamereplays, what do you do in your everyday life?

Gahvin: Drink, smoke cigars, read and play chess

GameReplays: Where do you see yourself in 5 Years from now?

Gahvin: Spamming 1v1s with Tower

GameReplays: If you could give one tip of advice to others like you, what would it be?

Gahvin: Don't be so shy and try to play vs good players even if you get kicked out of the rooms at first. Biggest problem for me was not wanting to play qm or tourneys till nice people invited to those rooms. You will see most good players are kind and don't mind if you are not super good, and can carry you if you listen.

GameReplays: Who do you think is best bfme player right now?

Gahvin: In 2v2 LATINO in 1v1 Dune

GameReplays: And who will be best bfme player?

Gahvin: Orange, Felix or Omran

GameReplays: What you think about 1.09 patch and do you play it a lot ?

Gahvin: I play it a lot, I think it is fun and adds a lot of good things (maps, heroes, balance, colors)

GameReplays: If you had a time machine, would you go back in time or visit the future?

Gahvin: Future, BFME virtual reality

With that we have come to the end of this edition of Spotlight.
