Spotlight with Marje

By CENTAUER - 15th August 2017 - 21:50 PM

This month Marje aka Suturbs, was given the opportunity to answer a couple of questions about himself and his thoughts on BFME .

GameReplays : - Hello, Marje thanks for doing this week’s Spotlight. Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Marje: - Hello. Thank to you. My name is “Abraham”... I was born and I live in Turkey. I have been busy with both engineering & non engineering jobs & several occupations for ~4+ years (2012-2016).

GameReplays : -Tell us a bit about your online gaming history?

Marje: I AM NOT really a online gamer. I started my only online game “career” with BMFE 1, in 2008. I wasn’t really active at that time. In 2008, 2009. (Like few games a week, or not play for weeks). I mostly played 2x2 QM with ICSPY, and a Canadian guy -not remember his nick-. And few other guys.

At that time, I also played FFA games with Westhameddie, Dangelus (best player I had often come across; couldn’t beat him 2x1 even if we were common medium level players in EA server), Bullghishin (second best but rare player), ChristCrusader, Shine…The common folks of the time, before official server shutdown.

AFTER EA SERVER shutdown, I was mostly active in 2011-2012 in 3x3 rooms. There were times I played every day & dozens of games. Mostly played 3x3-4x4 games I didn’t play in 2014~ due to a fulltime responsibility for a special work.

Nowadays, there is no 6 competitive players found easily for 3x3 at once. Except QM trend was really CBA worth to play. Only one problem: not sure but since people cared losses too much, the sustainability of the QM trend was broken.

In 2017, I mostly stick with FFA. Easiest option for a moderate game... (Except Hungry Toll; but after a time it’s boring to play with a single guy/s).

GameReplays : -Why did you join GR ?

Marje: I like discussion forums in general. I noticed the website had great amount of BFME discussions have been going on…Some of the hints, strategies I had discovered by myself. Which took too much time compared to those directly followed the instructions…

They were represented, summarized very shortly in the forum! Think of this: some rookie players come to forum and grasp specific strategies and hints within one month or even week of guided-experimenting… Some of which I struggled to discover like 6 months or more!

Some of discoveries were like “having discovered the worlds that already discovered” for me.

Those people were gathering the “finenesses of the gameplay” so easy and fast. Hence I felt like “this shouldn’t have been happening” or “Sigh, why have not been open to worlds of experience share”.

Then I got used to it, also strengthened perceiving the life lesson related to “the power of participation and discussion”.

GameReplays : -What is your favorite game?

Marje: BFME 1. I do not play any other games. If played, could chance.

GameReplays : -What is your favorite game genre? Why?

RPG, & Adventure. I used to play them… May sound contradicting, but even if I like BFME most, and do not play other genres anymore, I do not really love strategy the most.

GameReplays : -So, how did you first get started with BFME?

Marje: Before BFME, I had had a vow like “not playing any game anymore”. I didn’t play ANY SINGLE GAME for about 8 years (from age 16 to 24). I was sort of depressed, strongly felt the way that “video games were waste of time and reasons for failures in the first months of high school”. (I still think similar though).

Before high school, it was too easy. (Our family kids usually get high grades naturally, till high school). In addition, my high school was too competitive by a lot of means. I eventually came to that decision with a lot of mind work, and lived with it.

After a long time, after giving a “break” to my studies and works in the university, I started to play this BFME1 game, in late 2007 I think.

Something that brought my life meaning was decreased at university. Started playing video games - It didn’t start suddenly; started when I stopped aiming high grades at university. Probably was something to do with age and accumulated tiredness as well. In fact you have to do something to rest your biological stress such as PC games.

My two brothers were playing Network games (without online gaming). They trained me how to play BFME in late 2007 & early 2008. I even bought them BFME CD’s as present, for all of us to have EA accounts. However they didn’t play much after that.

GameReplays : -What do you like so much about BfME, that has kept you playing the game for years?

Marje: BFME calls for using of logic, geometry, battle tactics along with a general intuition.

I can’t count “love of success” within my motives, because It was not a reason for me to start Video games again. I wasn’t really looking for success, which I had “enough”. I re-started gaming as a “wanderer”, “drifter”, and continued like that.

GameReplays : -What is your favorite army and Match-up?

Marje: If no lag, Rohan and Rohan VS Isen.
(I liked playing with Gondor least, from the beginning Probably mostly because witnessing the rookies who pick Gondor, doing nothing but sitting in their castles with Gandalf the poor Grey, repeatedly.)

GameReplays : -What is your favorite map, and who is your best Team game partner?

Marje: Let me go back a little. My first, hence best partner was ICSPY in 2009. Since I didn’t used GR.ORG, or chat feature in BFME. I barely noticed people with nicks till late 2010… I mostly played on the maps such as Black gate, Osgiliath, Mirkwood. Liked Osgiliath most.

Today My best partner is BWEL I guess. He is a wise, a well-mannered guy to play with. I usually care attitudes more than gameplayage. He is helpful, and kind… MAP…Hard to say one among lebenin, westfold, southern ithilien, mirkwood, anfalas, nurn… All are ~ok…

GameReplays : -What would you do to change or improve game?

Marje: Map navigation screen is not user friendly enough. Additional shortcuts or game-built-in macros could be fine. I don’t like lags as everybody. Every month a tournament could be made (1x1 2x2 3x3 FFA sequentially).

The community could be more organized, and qualified to perceive matters. Improve commonsense. Leave out having too much fun against truth & kindness. The truth shall free us. Kindness shall provide the environment. (Still some problematic guys use f12 or show other dishoenesty or rudeness today)

GameReplays :-Playing against a Forces of Darkness or Forces of Light opponent?

Marje: FOD.

GameReplays : -Killing a high ranked Gandalf the White, or wiping out an entire castle with a Balrog?

Marje: Whipping Rank10 Gandalf by a Balrog.

GameReplays : -Army of the Dead or Balrog?

Marje: AOD for sure. You can scatter them. Can defeat the Balrog.

Balrog is better only at defeating FOL base at once & whipping.

GameReplays : -What do you like (or dislike?) most about the BfME community?

Marje: I do not like when people mock, joke, bicker etc. Or overdose sarcasm. Especially dislike these: people despising while winning, becoming “kind-ish” at losing. Hypocrites.

I don’t like that people who act as if “they don’t need anybody”. It is neither necessary, nor true. Victory or having fun with sub communities is not everything. There are other people to peace out.

I believe the echo of selfish senses affect the untrue pride (megalomania~) for even real life.

If you feel like you don’t need anybody, start to deny facts in yourself.

You know, Bread maker have to make brad… Cleaner must clean… Barber must cut… Engineer should construct… Mother got to feed… Father got to be a good teacher.. Life depends on each other. Nobody can survive well on an island alone.

A lot of “untrue pride” is not really true even in enclosed gaming platform. Everybody learned from everybody, game by game yet they do not respect the community. Or selective kindness/respect, still not really honest. Sarcasm or calling players joke-names is really “ear itching”.

There are more things to say but I think this is enough here.

GameReplays : -What games are you active on currently, and how do your experiences there compare to those from BFME?

Marje: I was really good at Tekken 3, versus the people I had met. After a time I became literally unbeatable. I was also good at Nintendo Super Street Fighter. I would probably have a world record if I attended any tourney. Coz I used to finish hard arcade mode without giving a round down (0 defeat, 0 retry). I finished most of the Tomb Raider adventures before BFME at my ages 14-15. (I mostly finished them in 2-3 days, each)

GameReplays : -What are some characteristics that you think help make up a great RTS player?

Marje: 1x1: In addition to spying sustainably, intuitive mind is essential. Comes with observation & taking applicational lessons for yourself (If you don’t take lessons, still aware but will perform less). The nature of 1x1 proficiency really depends on fitness. Hence it is sort of mostly for younglings.

2x2: Team work & synchronization are more important than blind aggressiveness.

3x3: Good rush senses is essential. You got to be agressive. Keeping rushing. Even if you lose units on and on, losses have to be OK according to cba... If it is a head to head game, all players balanced, *dexterity* or *MU* may rule the game. Also the “striker” and the “stayer alive” is very important in 3x3. Don’t ask what I mean, just saying.

4x4: Even If all players are good rusher, anti-rusher, or defenders, MU may ruin the game quickly. Also the scale of 4x4 maps don’t let very quick team help, hence not as ideal as 3x3.

FFA: (Even if this is not a common mode for RTS I wanna add this one…) Fastest point gainage tends to rule along with being aware of different probabilities. IF There is no Lame… Blind aggressiveness of is often rookish. Fastest army, yet always keeping an eye for the base therats is essential..

A normal FFA should be like everybody attacks everybodys farms in early game, spys around and attacks the MU based target, gains a lot of power, goes back coz of a threat, or interrupting of a stronger opponent.. ETC. Well FFA is bullshit sometimes but fun due to more battles in 40 minutes, compared to 1x1 2x2… Sometimes, If reached to late game, late game experience is very critical than other things. Good Aod, Balrog, summon usage does not happen as frequent as using basic armies well.

GameReplays : -How many hours a day do you spend playing games?

Marje: Average 1 hour a day. However some weeks 0 games. Depends on the mood, health, occupations, tournaments, Jorge el Gris, Awan, Max, Alfina, WCX, ….

GameReplays : -How has gaming affected your life?

Marje: “A time that had to be wasted, wasted healthily”. (Though It gives relaxation to a point, It is not totally waste)

GameReplays : -When you're not gaming or posting on gamereplays, what do you do in your everyday life?

Marje: Enhancingly-repeating/rewriting certain life thoguhts. Thinking, studying, history-science factology enhances my general provision. I am active in discussion forums other than BFME.

I pray, yet I am not a irrational (bigotheaded) christian or a pagan (repeative & nonthinker) muslim…
(I also do not really kidly-wishing things from the inequivalent God. Following some useful common moral formalities).

GameReplays : -Where do you see yourself in 5 Years from now?

Marje: Not playing a single game yet coming to gamereplays.org occasionally to post long paragraphs, as a response to mostly rookies. (If world war 3 hasn’t come forth yet)

GameReplays : -If you could give one tip of advice to others like you, what would it be?

Marje: Save the world. Save the society. Along with saving yourselves.

GameReplays : -If you had a time machine, would you go back in time or visit the future?

Marje: In a very limited content, but we already (partly) go to past by literature and language. I would like to go to the future, to witness.

Back is nothing. Besides, changing things by going to past would be just illusions. All in all, the way of existing is not the context of existing.

GameReplays : -Anything you'd like to add?

Marje: I will feel like giving advice to a grandson but let me say these, which are also for me:

Good luck and have less fun. It is healthier.

We are born, living, and going to die. Nothing is different for million years. Yet this is nothing to do with less hope.

Leave out passion. Add different “features” to your activities, feelings, thoughts, discoveries.

Be useful to the society along with being useful for yourself.

Fill in the gaps in the society. Participate. Discuss.

Think more, repeat yourself less.

For the sake of truth, goodness & rational balance.
