Battle for Middle Earth

[R] [Review] Stone Cold vs DanceandRomance

Easily my worst matchup I just had to post this game. At the start I actually had the advantage a bit and i sruvived longer then 10 mintues so I was happy biggrin.gif. However the game dragged on and eventually it entered the stage where Mordor fucking SUCKS, and I had no idea what to do but make catas and pray that he clumped all his combos together so I could kill them. Full review, maybe some of the other godly Mordors have words of wisdom here.

Overview

A nice game by both players, both demonstrating good strats. Isen seemed to be living on a shoe string, while mordor got his economy going and the money was rolling in allowing him to build up an army. Isen made a bad mistake sending his uruk archer combos in to fight and losing them all which set him back greatly, but did very well to build up again and get the much needed PP for rain so when Mordors next attack came he was caught out without catapults, and lost his whole army, turning the tables and putting Isen in control, from which point a well conducted siege won isen the game, even with some good catapult usage and the Balrog trying to stop him. Well played guys.

]RH[SToNe^CoLd / Mordor

Over all you had a good game, but I think a few things let you down. Firstly, only minor but you were slow to build your second mill, you then did well to steal a mill from the isen since he started pit furn, and then went to attack his next mill, This I think is where you went badly wrong, you had eye and ranked orcs and could have taken down his mill seriously hurting his economy, but instead you chased his uruks doing no damage and giving him time to getr reinforcements to kill you off. You need to try and keep your orcs moving at all times, had groups at your base, as soon as you have wood should have placed at his bottom mill and just had one of the pits way point to there to keep putting pressure on him. You went to creep a warg, I think you may have been better using these orcs to harass. Did well to take out his armory with your orcs, which set him back a little. As far as your strat goes, from what I saw after WK you would have been far better going for catapults instead of Nazgul, You speant 10K on Nazgul and they never really did anything at that point of the game. You did a really nice attack with your trolls taking out all his combos, which really set him back, however remember to try and stop the drummer attacking so he still gives leadership. Seeing how many PP you had you should have anticipated he would have rain, when you went for your second attack you seemed completely off guard and having no catas cost you your whole army 0wn3d.gif . After this you defended your base well with catas and although you were winning the PP race he was well on top now and you were just hanging on, there wasn’t much you could do from this point but hope he made a mistake, but he seiged very well and even with a last attempt to save your self with Balrog it was gg, but well played.

Mistakes / Things to improve

• More aggressive, take out his mills, remember he has to pay for his urulks orcs are free and the loss of a mill will really damage him.
• Place wood straight away offensively at his mill.
• I would have got cattas before Nazgul, with them you would have put up much more of a fight, anticipate rain.
• Be carefull with golum lost him to workers, could have run away and healed and then gone back in for more.
• Try to keep your orcs moving at all times, don’t have them sat around.

DanceAndRomance / Isen

A very good game by you making very few mistakes. Your start was good you harassed well and took down his pit, and kept taking down his workers, running back and forth with your uruks, and also defended well saving your mill. You got zerkers our quickly which really helped you to deal with the orc spam. Be careful with your workers however, had some sat around at mill after they were attacking Gollum. Your majour mistake and set back was running your clumped combos towards his trolls and then losing them all frusty.gif , needed to be more spread out, and would have been better to let him come to you. From here you did very well to rebuild your army and scrape those pp together to get rain which won you this game. In the second big battle without his leadership and no cattas you dominated killing his whole army thumb.gif and taking controle, from which you conducted a nice siege. One mistake, when you went to take his outpost oyu had sent a combo to where you were previously which ended up being target practice for his cattas. The cattas held you off a but but you managed to kill them and take out the siege works without to heavy loses, then took over some of his trolls tongue.gif , and from here it was gg, well played.

Mistakes / Things to improve

• Make sure all your mills have workers working at them
• Don’t clump your combos, spread them out, and don’t have them run towards trolls, make them come to you.
• Maybe could have done with a few more uruks to take out catas, they were really hurting you and feeding him pp, if he had got Balrog before your units got into his base it could have been a different story.

Overall rating: 6

what you did was right I think, they usually wc when they meet the two orcs along the bottom with their first uruk. The mill I stole from you really helped me out early tongue.gif

Use uruk to grab mills like normal, then do the FoL/FoD test at his base. If he is FoD, send your uruk back to your base, link up with the other coming out of your pit, and go through middle. If he is Mordor, WC and rush his pit, if he is Isen, go to the bottom ford, WC, split and kill his mills.

LOL.
Now go get your pokemon pjs on and snuggle up in your harry potter blankets bacause its past your bedtime.

Thanks dune , but i think a furn is a better start, because its random it could be fol which would be useful, and if its vs fod there is a chance that your mills go down due to uruks rush or orcs with eye, and its safer to have a furn for some garrenteed money in ma opinion
