dont u guys think that isengarts rain is the reason why rohan vs isen is a bit imbalanced?? i mean it cancells every form of leadership bonus while the isen player have lurtz on lvl 5 and saruman out . i think its not fair. well this game was entertaining this guy gave me a stressfull time . But once i had Rain i knew it was over . a Review would be nice
Review for A[R][G][o][e][N (Rohan) vs PerfectNoob (Isengard) on Fords of Isen:
Rohan:
+ constant harassment of mills (could've done more though) + good knowledge of map (safe settlements and how to reach his w/ Peasants) + splitting up your peasants enabled u to take down 1 of his mills hurting his econ + BO was good (getting stable after 5th farm for faster Rohirrim) + good selection of powers
- went for upgrades too early (should've gotten a 2nd Rohirrim 1st) - could've used heal for Rohirrim early on and lost a few u shouldn't have (cav give big xp when killed) - micro w/ cav was so-so (u sent them thru pikes sometimes, had opportunity to kill uruk pit but went for mill 1st) - often had Rohirrim in wrong formations and grouped together (they could've harassed more individually) - poor use of Aragorn (didn't even use his BM until he was prac. dead at end) - fought a WC'ed batt of FU pikes w/ one batt of FU Peasants (it takes 6 for pikes w/ UPs and WC) - had Theo w/ cav instead of Ara and Peasants (missed out on important LD - could've won u a battle) - allowed your opponent to fight on TL - didn't spam extra Peasants at start (u could've crippled his econ) - sell bldgs to deny your opponent PP - no Ent rush (he had nothing to stop them) - got Lego too late (he could've come in handy earlier)
Isengard:
+ won the game + good MC at middle and end of game (had a solid econ fr/ it) + hit most of the creeps + good use of Saruman and Lurtz + went for fast uruk pit to protect both mills + got both OP boosting your econ even more + wargs were a nice touch and helped out w/ Peasants and chasing raiding cav
- should've went for faster rain (u could've ended it much earlier had u skipped TL) - poor protection of castle and so-so protection of mills w/ pikes - didn't prep for Ents (he could've destroyed u w/ them) - got a fast pit but didn't send 2nd batt of uruks up to other mill and lost it (careless mistake) - faster xbows would've helped vs cav (could've used WC and taken down raiding cav b4 UPs, also faster pikes) - sometimes had pikes in wrong formations and spots (u could've blocked the river spots easily)
Summary:
An entertaining match w/ a few big fights. Isen had the clear advantage most of the game but Rohan continued to try and fight back but it was a losing battle. Isen's strat was good but could've been executed faster and getting Rain earlier would've ended it much earlier. Rohan however used the wrong strat and decided to fight a long, drawn out battle w/ Isen instead of going for fast Ents. Had Rohan done that, he would've won the game hands down as Isen would've had no way to stop it. Careless mistakes by both sides but Isen was able to pull ahead b/c of stronger units and econ. I'd suggest the Rohan player check out the Rohan Strat section for some tips on dealing w/ Isen, Ents would've won u this match hands down. Isen could also stand to improve his play, I'd also suggest visiting the Strat section for some tips, u weren't prepared at all for Ents and it's a very common strat used by Rohan.
ehm i know the entrush vs isen thing BUT i knew he wouldnt make it .... to make an effective ent rush u should have map control and he had no control at all all he could do was harrasing ent rush in that match would be suicide for rohan . iam not noob i lost to entrushes 2 or 3 times but i was sure that there was no thread like that in this match thats why i made the upgrades blades armor fire... sorry for my crappy english but iam german
Rohan doesn't need total MC, just a few external farms for a bit to give the econ a boost. After cav are out, it'll usually be all farms inside anyway, he might throw in a hero or too. Ents are often an act of desperation but even if u have fire, he can just keep spamming them and overwhelm u if u aren't fully prepped.
