Starting positions:
|DS|Soul - Northwest
sG|Madow - Southeast

Overview:

Both player's played the game with a "brute force" mind set and thus had many "Isen mirror-like" uruk vs. uruk battles and thus decreased the micro shown in this game. The momentum shifts very quickly as one of them at first finds them self on top, but soon has the tables turned due to his gambling strategy.

|DS|Soul - Gondor

By choosing to go with a defensive start, you really aren't even garunteed your farms because a defensive use of land/heal can be countered by simply walking around the farm/to the other farm (not mention he can send many uruks). If you go offensive, it will force the isen to stay defensive and you will in the process most likely take a mill down (a lost mill hurts much more than a lost farm). Your creeping could of been much more effective and your barracks must come quicker. In particular, this Isengard did not even go quick wargs so there was nothing stopping you from killing/scaring away pikes. If he makes zerks, good for you, it will slow down his economy and force him to micro more. Your HS rush was ok as you got down his siegworks but your horse micro was off. You lost too many horses and gave him many powerpoints (understandable as this is your first game back). Also, try to eventually start on a well-balanced army. Lucky for you he went a similar brute force army and tbh, a well-balanced army wins 90% of the time.

How to Improve
  • Offensive start. The damage you inflict on Isengard by taking down a mill > the damage you have done by leaving his mills alone. Also, try to be more harassive at the start. You left his mills untouched even though his pikes were on the far side and you could of easily gotten easy shots on the mills.
  • Don't forget to close your gate just because your not Rohan. Isengard can still WC behind certain spots untouched.
  • Creeping. There's a much more effective way of creeping that is probably faster and gives you a higher % chance of keeping as many of your horses alive that can be found here.
  • Micro. Your horses ran through pikes many times but luckily a majority of the time he didn't have them in formation anyways. Your Gandalf almost bit the dust quite a few times. Scout for lurtz ahead of time.
  • Passive on MC nearing mid-late game. He had regions of the map for quite some time alternating from one another. Try to get your mind set into a map "DOMINATION" mode. Don't leave any room for him to breath.
sG|Madow - Isengard

You had a nice start by taking out some early soldiers and getting inside his base. Earliest thing I noticed was your formation use, micro, and location. Pikes were out of formation alot of the time and on the far side of the mill. If you have them in front, it will at least make him micro alot more if he wants to take the mill and this will buy you time to micro your pikes to make sure he can't take the mill. Pretty nice early-mid game but don't forget to sell structures while he is rushing as you gave him quite a few PP's. Mid game is where you suffered the most. You didn't upgrade your pikes well enough and lost MC. This forced you to waste money on making new pikes and upgrading them (in which case you did not). Also, you could have saved a few pikes by retreating them and giving them banners. Another mistake was not upgrading your units with banners when he was massing soldiers and TG's. Even though uruks are stronger, soldiers with LD and a few ranks on the uruks will obliterate them.

How to Improve
  • Pike micro. Formations were idle at times and your mills would of gone down if the Gondor did not retreat just due to the sight of your pikes. Alot of your wargs were also killed later due to warg micro vs. TG's.
  • Selling structures on yellow. You gave him quite a few PP's from your towers/siegeworks.
  • Macro. Retreat your injured pikes to give them banners and remember to upgrade your pikes to keep MC and boost your economy.
  • Banners. Rank 2 > rank 1.
  • Hero micro. After you have pinned Gandalf, be sure to run because IL will kill Lurtz. You also lost your Saruman very un-necesarily.
  • Strategy. Consider different strategies. Your ram "rush" is very risky and it puts alot of your resources into upgrading uruks and siege. This takes away from your ability to hold MC and keep your economy going. This boosted your opponents MC and gave him GtW, trebs, and a endless supply of FU soldiers.
  • Initiative. Many times, Isengard's with the ability to win never keep the upperhand to take advantage of the situation. Your pike spam/macro/micro was rather lazy this game and led to your eventual defeat. You lost MC and this severely damaged your economy.

Overall Rating: 5
