Anyone else like my Gandalf's suicide charge in that first battle? That was the quickest waste of 6000 if I ever saw one. Not to mention Istari light skipped a beat or something.

In summary, Gondor players, dont make Gandalf in this kind of situation. It will only get you 0wn3d.gif 'd

Fun game to watch.

Question for Sagat. I am pretty sure that when pikeman are combined with another unit, they lose their porcupine formation ability, and are actually quite worthless in fending off cavalry. If this is true than why did you combine pikeman with x-bows? I think the only reason people stay away from them is because pikes look scary, but if they were to accidently run over a combined pike group, they would be pleasantly suprised in finding that their cavalry are just fine, and the x-bows get trampled besides.

lol Hero, as long as 'Top Names' are the players behind a replay it will always get recognition from Species.

Species just lost all credability in my eyes. Not to take away from the players themselves in this rep but the Game was poor and taught nothing except what not to do as Hero aptly concluded. lol if this is Silver the Gondor/Isen I posted should at least get a second review.

Btw Hero you said you would post on it; its here. This is ridiculous

I didn't even know I was doing something good, I dont even have a plan when I play, I just try and pressure guy the cheapest, fastest way possible and stumble onto some good things, such as my Gondor strategy.

I think Isengard should beat Gondor everytime. But I seem to beat the best Isengards with my Gondor. I can't make up my mind which faction is better.

I have no clue about the pikes and the archers. I don;t know alot about what units abilities are, or what makes certain units cheaper, or whatever, all I know is strategy. In my mind when I put the archers with the pikes, all I was doing was trying to make a super thick group that if the horses ran in it, they would get slowed down for a LONG LONG time while I could kill them. Also, the fire archers chew up the soldiers, and I was flat out abusing the pikeman armor bug. I just put the biggest armor thing I could find with archers to defend them against foot soldiers.

I know strategy, and how to win, but I don't know the details of the units or buildings that well, they really dont even matter in any game I have ever played. Bottom line is if I take more territory, and have more units,a nd pressure the other guy, your going to win even if your doing things wrong and not being as effecient as you could.

I've been experimenting with the combined pike/xbow thing a little teeny bit myself for purely defensive purposes - right now just one unit in the middle of the isengard base. The problem is the classic issue that pikes can't catch up with knights, and if you put xbows in your base to help the knights run around the pikes and trample the xbows, and pikes continue to scramble to catch them. Knights running over a combined group of pikes/xbows do take a significant amount of damage even if they are trampled. So it forces them to either run over the unit and take the revenge damage or take damage from the fire xbows. Still experimenting to see if the fire xbows or the revenge damage does enough to make it worth it or not. And like laak points out they will slow down the knights because of the thick mass of troops.
