RAGE^TeutoniC (Isengard) v FACK|Gangsta (Mordor)

Map: Fords of Isen

----------------------------------------

RAGE^TeutoniC (Isengard)
Build Order: 2 Furnaces + Mills, Pit, Towers, Uruks, Furnaces, Crossbows, Beserkers, Armoury, Forged Blades, Fire, Heavy Armour, Banner, Lurtz
PP: Warchant, Industry, Freezing Rain, Tortured Land

thum.gif Extra mill workers.
thum.gif Crossbow formations.
thum.gif Very nice mill worker harassment at the start.
thum.gif Good Beserker rush at exactly the right time.
thum.gif Got Banner against screech.
thum.gif Good Armoury position.

sad.gif Poor Pit position.
sad.gif More early towers and Mordor would not have got your citadel down.
sad.gif Didn't learn from first flank attack on your camp and got caught again. Build more towers.

Comments: Isengard has few chances to win this matchup and you did quite well but made a few mistakes that meant you were unlikely to win it. Your start was excellent. The harassment of the two mills was extremely good and you kept it going for a long time using the speed of the Uruks as a weapon against the slow orcs. This slowed Mordor down a lot and tied up resources.

Later when Mordor was just about to get Nazgul your Beserkers caused a major disruption in the Mordor camp and took more resources to repair the damage which also bough you a bit more time.

Time is what you are fighting for in this matchup. Time to get crossbows and fire. If you don't get them then the Nazgul will take away your crossbows and the orcs will swarm all over your camp. More crossbows and less Uruks is what you need in your game. Plenty of crossbows and the armoury and get fire first. You need about 6-8 battalions of crossbows with fire and you can soak up anything and take down the Nazgul fast.

Then the catapults come and at that point you need the Uruks with upgrades. At that point it is a question of micro and target selection. Let the Uruks take the catapults while the Nazgul are taken down by the crossbows. Let your towers take on the orc spam so stay in the shadow of your camp and slowly move outwards. If Mordor is stupid enough to let the orc spam dry up then you can surge forwards and go straight for his camp.

More crossbows and you might have stood a better chance.

FACK|Gangsta (Mordor)
Build Order: Pit + Gollum + Mill, Pit, Slaughterhouses, Pit, Towers, Outpost, Nazgul, Siege Works, Catapults, Witch King
PP: Tortured Land, Eye of Sauron, Industry, Darkness

thum.gif Good attack on the Isengard citadel.
thum.gif Good orc spam.
thum.gif Catapults early after the Nazgul were ineffective.

sad.gif No second outpost for attack from a third direction.
sad.gif Slow to rebuild mill workers at the start.
sad.gif Tortured Land misfire at the beginning.
sad.gif Used Nazgul to attack something other than crossbows.
sad.gif Too passive. You should have attacked the camp with the Nazgul directly a lot sooner.
sad.gif Left too many units alive after attacks to re-spawn.

Comments: The start was difficult because Isengard was good at harassing you but eventually you got the orc spam going and started to turn the tide against Isengard. The Beserkers stopped you from getting Nazgul for a while and when the Nazgul arrived you microed it well to start with.

When the catapults came out you then seemed to have an attack of 'poor target selection'. Lurtz became an obssessive target and he was chased with Nazgul instead of giving the crossbows a good kicking. The only thing you are concerned with is getting rid of crossbows. Once that is done you can use the Nazgul to take down the citadel and then orc spam the Isengard camp to death with Nazgul support. When attacking Isengard all you are concerned with is killing crossbows. Aim the catapults at nothing else, swoop on the crossbows with the Nazgul and orc spam straight at them. If the Uruks attack the catapults let them, just keep aiming at the crossbows and swoop on the crossbows with the Nazgul. If the crossbows target the Nazgul then the catapults that are still alive will hit them before they die and the Nazgul will get the rest.

When you attack don't let a banner carrier and nothing else get away. The entire unit will respawn and save your opponent from having to build an entirely new unit. Chanse every last man down and kill them.

Kill the crossbows. Anything else is a waste of time until after the crossbows are dead.

Match Comments

A resonably entertaining match with the Isengard player slightly better but the Mordor player hitting the Isengard player over the head with the brick of Mordor OP'ness.
