BO: 2 Farms in > 2 Farms out > Farm > Stables > Well > Archery > Armoury > Outposts Strat: Rohirrim > Theo > Rohirrim Archers > Eomer > Yeoman > Eowyen > Elves > Aragorn PP Usage: Heal > EW > Ent Summon
Pros: Creeping was good, you got 4/6 Theo use was good, including getting the last hit on creeps hence getting GC Got Eomer LD Used RA to get MC effectively in the middle game Used Yeoman to defend outposts
Cons: No harassment of mills at the start with peasants, I think this was a big mistake – should’ve got draft Didn’t use RA in wedge when they weren’t under attack, or Yeoman in skirmish sometimes Some Yeoman were on the wall doing nothing, including the first time your castle was under siege Often didn’t sell farms before red, handing him easy PP and a small loss to your economy RA micro in final battle desperately poor IMO, I have no idea why you sent them running into the middle of the trolls
Overall Gameplay: 5
{UTC}Tereus (Mordor)
BO: Orc Pit > 2 Mills > 2 Slaughters > Haradrim Palace > Fill with Slaughters > Troll Cage > Mumakil Pen > Siege Works Strat: Gollum > Mass Orcs > 4 Haradrim > Mass Trolls > 2 Drummers > 1 Mumakil > Mass Catas > Witch King PP Usage: Eye of Sauron > Tainted Land > Industry > Darkness
Pros: Excellent Gollum micro, used him to kill peasants and destroy farms at 0% Good early tower placement, killing almost 2 bats of his early Rohirrim Got an early outpost and defended adequately Used orcs to constantly harass his farms/outposts mid and late game, excellent micro to avoid garrisoned archers fire Great use of LD, using Mordor’s full arsenal together at the end
Cons: At the beginning had quite a few orcs just standing still, should’ve at least sent 1 to harass enemy farms Creeping was quite poor at times, should’ve used orcs to protect haradrim rather than letting the orcs just die to the wargs Sent 1 troll on it’s own and then another against 2 RA and several Rohirrim Sat back a little too much in the mid game, you’re lucky his harassment was a bit slow
Overall Gameplay: 7
Comments: This match was a great demonstration of Mordor’s potential with a full pop cap. I did, however, feel they were somewhat flattered by Rohan’s poor RA micro in the big battles.
Early game was surprisingly stale, with neither side attacking the others settlements with their starting units. I think both sides missed a great opportunity here, as any sort of a rush by either side would’ve seen early map dominance. I feel that after Mordor lost 2 trolls unessecarily, Rohan could have pressed home their advatantage or at least crippled Mordor to a greater degree, such as taking their citadel down.
As the game wore on it was always shaping up to be an epic battle between 2 full armies with maxed out LD, but sadly it turned into Mordor ownage thanks to some dire RA/Rohirrim micro from Rohan. Why on earth he sent them charging into the middle of the trolls is beyond me. I assume it was to crush the orcs, but they weren’t really doing that much were they? I would’ve recommended GC’ing a fair distance away from the trolls (e.g. edge of castle), and sent the Rohirrim to destroy trebs. Rohan could then have let the trolls come to the RA, rather than the other way around.
Still, this match can serve as a warning shot to all the mordor doubters. Underestimate them at your peril!
