[attachmentid=224634]I was playing vs Metelus on westfold, i thought i had an ok start but it started 2 slip cause he had fire arrows alot faster than i anticipated. I think i ended up making 30 mumuks in the hole game, i think i got win-loss bug in the end but oh well fun game. A Review would b cool.

Review by: Luân

Starting positions:
Metelus - East
MaxTheGreat6 - West

Overview:

An entertainging game between Gondor and Mordor where both got off to a fast start due to the map. Micro was lacking alot in this game but it was very fun to see so many Mumakil. Godnor ends up camping rather quickyl causing Mordor to get frustrated. However, the mass amount of summons and bad GtW micro incidents allowed Mordor to gain his Balrog relatively quickly.

Metelus - Gondor

Your entire mind-set the entire game was to camp and be defensive. Let me just tell you now this is not the way to go. Gondor camping is not invincible. It can help, but you cannot rely your entire game on the basis of camping. At the start, you need to be more offensive and harass Mordor's mills. The quick fire was a possibility but I there are better strategies. Refer here for help on your strategy vs. Mordor. Another factor that killed your game was your micro (specifically your GtW micro). Don't forget mumakil can kill him in one shot. Many of your problems are related to your strategy so be sure to use the link I gave you.

How to Improve

  • Strategy. Again, use the link I provided as it will help with alot of your problems.
  • Micro. Don't put your Gandalf in the face of various mumakil and try to cast a spell.
  • PP use. Do not use land first in this match up. It is also something Mordor obtains relatively early.
  • Stoneworkers. Once you are done with all the upgrades from it, you can demo your stoneworkers.
  • Camping. Don't build wall trebs as they are easily destroyed yet cost much more than a treb you can build inside.

MaxTheGreat6
- Mordor

Your start was very troll oriented and brought fast trolls. You have the right idea but going straight to the troll cage is very risky. I would recommend at least a couple of SH's before your troll cage (maybe even just 1 or 2). Careful of your building placement. Your troll cage was very exposed and a more aggressive Gondor would of most definetly taken down your troll cage. Also, don't forget you should probably keep your orc pit because even though haradrim on mumakil can take down eagles, your opponent was camping with trebs. A Gondor with better micro would've not let you get such a quick balrog and in this case, mass catapults is better supported by combos. The key for you in this game was improving your micro. Your trolls were bunched alot of the time and you were unable to protect your catapults from horses. More trolls with tree's are necesary and less mumakil (or just micro them better... don't run over your own drummer!).

How to Improve

  • BO. Consider a slightly safer BO. Quick trolls are a must, true, but this was just a little to risky imo. If Gondor was more harrasive of your mills in the beginning, you could of run into some trouble.
  • Building placement. Never place your troll cage at the front in such a vulnerable spot.
  • Mumakil/Troll micro. Try to mass your trolls with trees as any small amount of archers your opponent can throw at you is obsolete. Your mumakil also ran over your own trolls quite a few times and were also bunched just as your trolls were.
  • Unit mixing. You did mix alot of units but I think a better mix would have been catapults and combos rather than mass mumakil and haradrim.
  • Balrog micro. Refer here to the help with your balrog micro.

Overall Rating: 5 (Low 5)

He's fine as long as he doesn't tag so many that the rest of us RRs can't even get in our required amount of reviews per week LOL. laugh.gif And gives us a fair chance at RRotM once he has gotten it. happy.gif
