8472 - Review

An awesome game, which shows that rohan vs isengard is equal if rohan can keep his leadership abilities the whole game.
Both players played very well, only isengard made a horribly huge mistake, by not casting rain, if he would have casted rain, the game would have ended much sooner and not become to what it is now.

Rohan: Very well played, awesome micro of horses, taking map control and attacking isengards base, Eomer was a good decision too, that prevented theoden from some cripples. Throughout the game constantly action and putting isengard on pressure, sometimes it looked like you would lose, but you still managed to survive. Aragorn would have helped a lot and maybe he woulld have helped you to victory if you managed to buy him in the seldom silent times. Ents saved you in the middle of the game, pretty good, although they could not destroy much. Theoden went rank 6, so if you want to attack, take the time to rank up your peasants, they become rank 3, that made it pretty difficult for isengard, but both sides lost all units and at that time had isengard an advantage. Once you attacked the battering rams, while you could have attacked lurtz, the rams were not attacking your walls so lurtz is much more important.

Isengard: Pretty well played too, two war chanted uruks defended you from very early peasant spam. You crippled eomer instead of theoden a couple of times, theoden is much more important so do not make the same mistake again. The hugest mistake was forgetting to cast rain, isengard can cast rain every moment even if rohan has already cloudbreak, cloudbreak is not of much use without disabling weather, so he will wait and isen has a shorter countdown times, so even if you think rohan has cloudbreak you should cast rain. However this makes the game so entertaining, if isengard cannot cast rain, there is a quite equal battle vs rohan. Isengard can make much faster units after losing a whole army, rohan needs heros and therefore they are delayed, that was the only thing which made you win this game.

A rohan vs isengard match cannot be entertaining if there aren`t any mistakes on isengards side.
This was an incredibly entertaining game and the battle was pretty equal, rohan played awesome and isengard played like it should be played except a couple of huge mistakes, still this match deserves GOLD

Not casting rain made this game balanced. A good example for EA.

Rohan strategy: 8.5
Isengard strategy: 7.0
Entertainment: 8.5
Balance (unb 1-4 bal): 4

This was indeed a match with a couple of huge mistakes.

No offence meant but I don't quite understand why this match went gold.
The start was well played by both sides, esp. by rohan with several succesful raids to isen's base with destroying the uruk pit a couple of times. thumb.gif

I agree, it was mostly decent horse-micro (nice creeping of troll cave with GC! thum.gif )
Btw, up to the point I watched the rep Lurtz crippled Theo 2 times and both times he was killed.

However, imho then the quality of the match suffered a lot from several huge mistakes by both players and with periods in which nearly nothing happened.

Tbh, I've only watched until the point when Rohan built an ent-moot near _his_ base and killed like 1 units of pikes with them.
It was a desperation-move by rohan, I understand that and it bought him some time. But at that point he clearly should've been owned by isen.
Also imho getting both Aragorn and Legolas would've been more helpful imho. Or rebuilding the army.

Meanwhile, Isen just waited at his base, getting a few rams instead of creeping with Lurtz or something.

This was the point when I stopped watching.

I don't mean to offend anyone, you could see that both players know how to play and I'm no pro at all and maybe the match got better later but I really don't understand why this match is a gold rep.

I've always thought a match is gold when it's both entertaining and the participating players played very well and in my point of view none of this aplies to this replay.

Well, I might just be spoiled by other great replays on this site... wink.gif

Through the mistakes the players made, became this game balanced, if isengard would have played on the same level as rohan, the match would be soon over...

Wow thanks for gold.

In retrospect I probably should have abandoned ents until I had map control back and spent the 6k on leggo+ aragorn to get me in a better position to finish with ents. A few times I was so paranoid about cripple that I think i left theo at home. So I can see several bad micro blunders. I get so frazzled against isen because they can make rediculous comebacks from nothing. My morale kinda got blown when I couldnt prevent him from getting pikes even after I killed the pit like 3 times.

This guy was ranked pretty high so I was playing on my toes. made a few mistakes because of it. Awesome game anyway tho...

Now go review my isen mordor game too! smile.gif

nice replay even tho eviltwinkie could have won this one much sooner. upgrading his rohirim with shields was just useless because he lost nearly all of them in his second attack anyway. Whil I agree that the first attacks with Emoer, Theoden and their Rohrim were good I think it would have been better if he´d saved the money for and entwood thus beeing able to build it much sooner instead of spending the money on upgrades. that way he could´ve won the game much sooner.
