[R]Awesome IsenGard Vs Gondor

Replays: 4 Game:
This is by far the most intense game I've played with my Gondor. No Gandy/Stonework abuse, 4 Major Battles, no time for rest and streamline micro. Very few mistakes from either side I can see from first viewing.

Boromir just misses out on level 5 but the Horn more than pays for that. Majpr props to Korp for countering my Horseshields so consistently (Horseshields are supposed to be overpowered ? n1qshok.gif ). He is an awesome player and would really like to know what his real account name is tongue.gif Apparently 'I dont need to know it.' Ill be more than happy to rematch your Rohan if the game will be as good as this, just name the place.

I humbly request a review when you guys get the time... soon... whistling.gif

Ok normally I don’t bother to bump my own threads but with all the Replays at the top of this board that have nothing going for them but a Flame War I just had to bump this one.

Watch the Replay and tell me this is not worth some attention but I think the reason it will be overlooked is because of the lack of 'Big Names' in it and mention of Rank. mellow.gif

Game Breakdown

Here’s a Quick Summary for those that think Gondor vs Isen are all the same.

Game has a standard start with IsenGard gaining near complete map control early game. Gondor Cavalry however exploits their early game advantage to equalize territory across the map with not too much damage done to their economy.

The rest of the Game involves constant pressure from Cavalry strikes on Isens main base which effectively dictates the course of the game and forces him to allocate a large proportion of command points for defense. IsenGard exploits the lack of early Gondor defence and we have the first major battle of the Game when an early siege ladder gives IsenGard the ‘Key to the City’. Gondor takes a massive blow to her economy but is still in the game thanks to Boromir and some Elves. (Close call)

Gondor Cavalry then splits its role between strike force and support to the Gondor Infantry and the pressure increases on the IsenGard siege settlement which is sited as top priority target; especially with its rank steadily increasing...

All other major battles take place at the Isen main base and their siege settlement with both players using every trick in the book to break the deadlock. One notable IsenGard action was the use of a Bomb that I saw way too late and obliterated 80% of the Gondor Infantry forces and nearly the entire Cavalry brigade; n1qshok.gif the action that definitely would have broken the deadlock in Isens Favor. As it was Gondor held out and dispatched Gandalf the white-nose on lurtz hunting duty and finally slew him in the last major battle of the game that saw Gondor march on the IsenGard siege settlement and end up with 80% map control and a booming economy. Nothing but a Balrog would have saved IsenGard and with this in mind I made sure the final attack on main was both decisive and clinical – no mistakes.

I would so like to hear anyone’s views on this replay as I would be very surprised if this didn’t at least get ROTW with the competition being what is at the moment.blush.gif

Enjoy

I watched it, bro. I agree, it was a great game -- one of the best Gondor/Isens I've seen. Spectacular use of Boromir and Pippen. Definitely deserves a review.

Gondor vs Isengard
P0W3RH0USE vs Korp

Average game with use of certain strats, such as horse shield rush and uruk/ladder siege. There were great battles in the game but did not have the touch with it should have. Gondor is going for a horse-shield rush, but isengard could defend his base and built quickly an outpost for siege works and built two ladders and 4 bats of upgraded uruks, at that time gondor had some knights, upgraded soldiers and boromir. the uruks could not win against the horn and it became a useless attack. The main battles were around the middlewest outpost and isengard could defend it for some time, but was finished after the use of elvenwood and boromirs and gandalfs leadership bonuses (125% armor and 100% damage). Gondor summoned eagles and a couple of minutes later isengard was finished.

P0W3RH0USE:
+ Very nice use of pippin and boromir, used horse shield rush but with a "lost touch". You levelled up boromir, before charging into battle, nice use of his horn. Just as Korp, you did not take the settlements.

It was all about leadership bonusses and isengards mistakes, good mix of cavalry and infantry.

- Horse shield rush could have been better, 1 bat of pikemen cant be everywhere, so scatter your knights more. Could have build tower guards. Did not build the market after selling the farm...

Played quite well, but did not take settlements in mid- and late-game, could have build market.
6.0

Korp:
+ Early outpost, used uruk/ladder siege but did not have "the touch". Nice use of mine, levelled up lurtz to level 6.
Yeh, thats all.

- Awful late lurtz, with the uruk/ladder siege you could have placed war chant better, by activating it while uruks get up or get off the wall and you did not use formations which is VERY IMPORTANT, you could have used 1 bat of uruks to attack the buildings and the other the soldiers. Did not reclaim settlements and did not destroy gondors outpost next to isengards base. You left the battering completely alone even when they were attacked you didnt move. Did not retreat when attacking on elvenwood. Fuel the fires?? while you had only one lumber mill.

You made a lot of mistakes, but the most terrible one was no use of formations.
4.0

Good to see how players use the created strategies if they dont know how it must be done exactly.
I think it was a pretty good game if the players would have watched the settlements, used formations and killed all creeps, because there were still creeps remaining at the end of the game.

Balance (unb 1-4 bal): 3
Entertainment: 6

Species: What is this 'Touch' you refer to just out of interest?

Thanks for taking the time to review but the game had a lot more to it than what you just summarised. lol if I scattered my Cavalry any more they would end up on a completely different map biggrin.gif

Also thanx to directeffect101 for his comments. Keep the reviews and comments comming plz pirate.gif

I already explained it what the touch was, if you read it well.
With scatter I mean attack from different sides, attack with 3 bats of knights, one SouthWest, one SouthEast and one from the North. one or two bats, of course two destroy a building much faster.

Ahh I see the problem. wink.gif I must have run about 4 - 5 Cav strikes on main with some Bats hitting the expansions at the same time - hard for Reviewer to follow on a first run through the Replay. Np it's like the part where Korp loses his Rams it's because as that attack was going on I was attacking his main and we were both microing 2 armies. As I said battles going on everywhere and 'scattering' taken to new levels smilie_naughty.gif

There were no expansions to attack! blink.gif
And I mean your initial knight rush, you did a couple of knight attacks, I am talking about isengards base, NOT the whole map, of course you should have used one bat to claim settlements.

You could only attack the outpost and the base, I am talking about that you should not attack his base from only one side in the early game when isengard had only one bat pikemen. This game was only an average game, nothing new and isengard played horrible, coz he did not use formations in battle.
