Patch 1.09 Tip Of The Week #3 - Gloin Micromanagement.


This week we take a look at Gloin's role in patch 1.09 and how to use his slam ability effectively. We also examine his unit statistics.

Gloin Statistics
  • Build Cost: 1100
  • Build time: 30
  • Health: 2400
  • Armor: HeroArmor (dies with Swords and Arrows)
  • Damage: 300 HERO kind of damage (150 against Fortress) (240 against Black Riders)
  • Speed: 45 (Dwarf Hero Speed)
  • Total experience required to level 10: 1100
  • Slam (level 1) damage: 500 CRUSH kind of damage (400 against Black Riders) + 500 SIEGE kind of damage (375 against Fortress)
  • Shake Foundations (level 4)damage: 2800 SIEGE kind of damage (560 against Fortress) (2240 against Forges)
  • Shatter Hammer (level 10) damage : 1100 MAGIC kind of damage, spreaded per distance to the center. (500 outsider, 800 center, 1100 nearer the center)

    Gloin Slam ability's tooltip always said it's effective against structures, pretty much non true. Everyone uses it against units, and it really worths using it against units -specially considering 1.08/1.09 has improved it's radius-. But why not try to hurt both kinds of objects at once?

    Gloin and Crew: The Inevitable Death of 1k Hero's


    Gloin is the toughest, yet slowest, 1k game of the game. However, Boromir is the only hero who can kill any other 1k hero in 1vs1. Gloin pretty much FEARS Boromir, since his knock-back ability will leave Gloin laying in the ground while a single Gondor soldier batt can kill him.
    But the Gimli's Father has a trick that will end up exterminating boromir from the early game... Such trick consists in knock-back Boromir with Slam, TOWARDS your own units, then move them around the unit in the floor, until they are clumped. Then give the Attack order! gg boromir!
