As a sidenote: maybe you should consider trying to get good with a single faction or two first. Playing random only helps if you have a "feeling" of the game and know the basics/have the "enthusiasm" Ecthelion mentioned already.

Takes longer to master all factions to a decent level, so it's less rewarding because you get stomped more often. Ofc, learn them all at some point, but only after you're already decent at the game itself.
Everyone learns differently, playing one faction and then progressing to all factions works for some, playing all factions from the start works for others.
As the saying goes, there's many a way to skin a cat.
Id say its better to play at least about 80 games on each faction via random army to get the general feel of all tge match ups and then perfect one by one.

That's what I meant. At least for 1v1 - if you're playing teamgames you'll need to know how other factions play.
If you stick to 1 army for starters (after playing a couple of games to find out which one you like ofc) you'll have to master 5 matchups + mirror instead of 36 in total. Way too confusing.
