Glute your dwarf would be the best if you implemented into your strategy the revival of hordes, some hearths/siege kegs maybe... Also upgrade dwarf fortress with banners/siegekegs to make heros cheaper and spawn/respawn faster.
Also... perhaps if you stopped building so far from fortress your Hall of guardians wouldn't be taken down by a single pikemen horde.

And btw, this is replay-unrelated. But axe throwers and guardians survive volley arrow like champions with defensive stance+gimli.
