I felt this was a decent game, pretty shit matchup for child to have, i thought he did quite well considering the circumstances to.

Some cool powers, cool spam, and all that shit. Im not entirely sure if either of us played to our full extent, but its a good watch(just watched it myself). Not very often i get to play child coz of timezone diff so it was great to do so. He gave me a thrashing with those lovely lorien warriors vs my mordor the game before so i figured this rep was just karma getting him back.

Starting positions:
[DivA]Child - Goblins - West
Unr3al|Virtuoso - Mordor - East

Overview:

A really high skilled game between two excellent players. Child initially aimed to creep steal, but Val appeared to out manoeuvre him here and Child was forced to try to creep with Goblin Archers, which he did. However, with a powerful Easterling spam and orcs accompanying, Child was driven back and resorted to sending in cave trolls. His harassment was almost stopped by the fellbeast, and was saved initially by Drogoth arriving right on cue. Nevertheless, not much time passed before Drogoth died and the fort went.

[DivA]Child - Goblins

Now you played well because this match up is hard for goblins, as is evident from this replay. You struggled vs the Easterling spam backed up with Mouth Of Sauron and Fellbeast. Mainly, the fellbeast seemed to stop all your harassment. This was bad because it meant you had minimal map control and your economy was worse than Valheru. In future, either accompany your harassers with Goblin Archers or Drogoth. I think Drogoth is invaluable in this match up, so you perhaps needed to get him earlier because he can counter fellbeasts and pikes, although circumstances dictated it difficult for you to do so in this game. The way you overcast his land was good because it meant he had wasted his land power and you had a buff for fighting on that land. You divided your harassment well to come in all directions because of the fellbeast restricting your harassment, but it wasn’t enough. You did well to stay in the game, but you were never really on top from the middle game onwards. However, your stances, harassment, expansion, clumping and powerpoint usage were near perfect.
  • Drogoth – Get him earlier in order to be able to kill the opposition’s fell beast and kill his pikes
  • Mouth of Sauron – You struggled to kill him, perhaps try more half trolls with 2 cave trolls at the same time so he can’t just Evil Eye them?
Unr3al|Virtuoso - Mordor

You played especially well because you shut down his harassment by creeping early and getting a fast Nazgul. You proceeded to use its trampling capabilities to cut out the goblin spam and then got a Mouth of Sauron which was good to counter his Cave Trolls. However, there were a lot of examples where your harassment could have been optimised by splitting your troops and harassing from different directions, making it more difficult to defend. Your decision to get fellbeasts was incredibly successful. They more or less nullified the goblin spam which eased the pressure of your defence allowing you to turn it into attack. However, you could have been a bit more aggressive, there were examples when you were just waiting for reinforcements inside your half of the map, which were superfluous for the job at hand. Next time, simply get onto his RB’s! Your stances, expansion, clumping and powerpoint usage were excellent!
  • Aggressive – Next time, try to have all your units either purposefully defending RBs or attacking, never in between because you could be using those for harassment.
  • Harassment – Aim to come from more directions with your units as this is more difficult to defend from.
Overall Rating: 7

Silver Replay

Silver Replay Justification
  • The minor errors cost neither side the game
  • Exciting game
  • The game ran smoothly and both players demonstrated a sound understanding of how their respective factions worked

thumb.gif I vote this replay for silver. Its exactly what should be done in this type of game.

I think a different build order would have helped Child. But then again Virtuoso out smarted Childs Creep steal tactic.
It completely messed Child up.
