Andy boy you did not play bad at all, wp, but randy played better. Mostly cause he didn't let archers die, pretty annoying. U shud have went undermine or battlewagons to deal with that.

I prefer bws after axe throwers if you set yourself in a nice aggresive position like you did this game and bws before ATs if you went creep heavy and need to defend cuz u lack harrasment/pushing power.
Offhost vs a good elf, tbh, i would only use battlewagons as a "defend" threat. By keeping one or two BW inside the mineshaft system. Just like developing a knight but never moving it from F3 or C3.
Then take advantage of this freedoom by expanding, gaining money, camping, being homo and making all dwarf heros. =D
