Damn what a game, Val and System are arguably the best 2v2 combo out there seeing as they love each other and visit each others beds after lights out so i was slightly apprehensive tongue.gif But Strategy played awesome and in general it was a sexy game with lots of cool stuff biggrin.gif

Enjoy coz this is silver.

Review by: Mr. K

Starting positions:
PoW|Strategy/PoW|Bikini - North
Unr3al|Valheru/Unr3al|System - South

Version: BT2DC 2.1

Overview:

Here’s quite the entertaining replay. The amount of unit spam here was overwhelming and the teamwork was admirable to say the least. Of course with this kind of spam, there was a list of micro problems. One very big problem, however, resided in a risky macro decision Unr3al made. System made nothing but Cave Trolls half of the game, and although it gave their opposition so pretty close calls, defense became a real problem. After about 1/3 of the game went by, he became overwhelmed to quite an extent and not even Val’s widespread harassment could create enough of a rebound. Val soon left the game and let System take the reins putting up a decent fight before he was defeated.

PoW|Strategy/PoW|Bikini (Dwarves/Mordor)

You both did played a pretty good game here. The teamwork between you two was impressive and unyielding and was the harassment. In addition, neither of you hesitated to expand and keep a decent hold on your parts of the map. With that said, there were some problems, but only small to moderate in scale. Firstly, keep a better eye on your battlewagons, Strategy, you lost too many to pikes this game. Now, I’m only going to stress this problem because it could’ve really put a huge damper in your enemy’s plans, and it’s to be more aware of your offensives. You sent a demolisher right past System’s fort wasting too precious seconds when you could’ve did some major damage. As for you, Bikini, there’s nothing too huge on criticism on can give you. Just remember those correct stances in each situation and try not to let those resources pile way up. You could’ve used them to purchase mumakil or unit upgrades at the very least, so be a bit more open-minded about that stuff.

Points of Improvement:
  • Cavalry Micro (PoW|Strategy): Keep your cavalry as far as possible from pikes or try and carefully maneuver around them.
  • Offensive Awareness (PoW|Strategy): Always watch your units when you’re moving them in for harassment. Turning the other way can lose you precious seconds.
  • Cashfloat (PoW|Bikini): Better manage your resources and don’t let them climb so high. Invest in either something critical for the match like unit upgrades or heavier units.
  • Stances (PoW|Bikini): Use the proper stances in each circumstance so your units can be used as effectively as possible.
Unr3al|Valheru/Unr3al|System (Mordor/Goblins)

Despite some problems on this side, you guys did fairly well. Just like your opponents, the teamwork was consistent. Harassment for the most part was decent on both ends but there were some definite problems. The biggest problem here was the strategy you decided to go for, System. Although Cave Trolls do some major structural damage and bat away most infantry, they still need cover and they aren’t that fast or spammable. Going the direction of nothing but cave trolls really limited yours and Val’s aggression potential since your base became very fragile and advancing to different game stages became a chore. Simply building a Goblin Cave or two would’ve been a decent starting ground for your own defense and Cave Troll cover. Anyways, you did get Strategy’s fort health down a good ways before your Cave Troll kicked the bucket. It was at that point where you should’ve used your Wildmen Summon and the fort would’ve been gone. Make sure you’re more open to what’s going on around the map to located demanding times like these to use those spells. Now, as for you, Val, there were a few micro problems on your part. You must remember to use the right stances; most of the time, you didn’t use hold ground when moving your units. Just as well, to save resources, make sure you’re being more careful with your heroes and not lose them so needlessly from their counters and save those veteran units. You’ll also need to remember your stances, System. You weren’t giving utilizing them on your cave trolls and there were random slip-ups here and there additionally. Lastly, make sure you’re taking better care of your builders.

Points of Improvement:
  • Macro-Management (Unr3al|System): When you are trying to get heavier units out fast, create additional units for cover and better base defense.
  • Stances (Unr3al|Valheru/Unr3al|System): Remember to use correct stances for each combat situation to make the best out of your units.
  • Hero Micro (Unr3al|Valheru): Heroes take too much time and resources to revive. Withdraw them in critical circumstances so they can regenerate and keep them away from their counters.
  • Veteran Units (Unr3al|Valheru): In order to save resources, retreat your veteran to a safe place to regenerate.
  • Builder Micro (Unr3al|System): Builders are too much a critical unit to waste so needlessly, always keep them safe.
  • PP Spell Usage (Unr3al|System): Be aware of situations around the map to better locate opportune times to use your PP spells with more lasting effect.
Overall Rating: 5/10

lol - it was an interesting game. I definitely wouldn't say silver - a lot of mistakes on my part, which I apologize to Val for, but they were inevitable seeing as how I haven't played actively in forever.
