Keys to the Match Up
1. Kill their production buildingsGoblins rely on spam to outnumber and overpower Dwarves. The source of that is having many production buildings. Whenever you get the chance, kill as many production buildings as you can, without the capacity to spam troops, you will overpower them and win.
2. Check the whole map for buildingsSometimes it is easy to get caught up in your forward Mine assault directly on their main base. This allows for the Goblin player to expand on the sides of the map, using Tunnels to transport around your Mines, and even make some hidden production buildings, perhaps in a good attempt to sneak Trolls to your Fort. To prevent this, try to send a Battlewagon to the sides where you don't have any Mines to check for Goblin expansion. If you don't have one handy then even a Guardian will do, slow as they are. Better to have it take a little while over not at all, and miss finding out important information.
3. Win EarlyThere comes a point in the game where it will get harder to win. Most notably, Drogoth, upgrades, and Goblin Power points like the Watcher, Scavengers, Darkness, and the Balrog will be huge game changers. The sooner you can end the game before those powers come into play, the better.
4. Map Control/Forward MinesMap Control is important in any match up, but for Dwarves it is extremely important. This is because forward Mines are essential for keeping pressure on Goblins and supplying quick reinforcements. Another thing is that you need more than one angle of attack. If you keep sending troops out of the same Mine they will have an easy time sending their faster troops around yours to kill it. With multiple Mines you can attack from more than one direction, spamming units from all sides. Since Goblins will try to spam units they will also be more likely to find your mines it is also good to have a backup one or too.
5. Be Careful With Your BuildersGoblins are great at killing builders with their speedy Spiderlings and Goblin Warriors. Don't leave you builders in the open, instead, put them in a Mine, or if you want the space in the Mine, right outside the entrance to a Mine so they can get inside fast.
Tips
- If Gorkill uses the Skull Totem, attack the Totem to kill it and remove the leadership.
- If you cannot fight their units because they run away, go for buildings.
- Use stances correctly. For example, if you have hit the cap of defensive leadership with Gimli and King Dain, do not put your units in guard stance.
- Be creative with your Mine placement. Placing them in the same place makes them easier to find.
