Player of the Fourth Quarter - 2021
Hello Generals!2021 has ended a while back, but we didn't have a Player of the Fourth Quarter yet. Anyway, here you can read about all the winners of the fourth quarter and a recap of all tournaments that has ended. With ExCaL, we have a very consistent nummer 1. However, the top 3 might be a bit more surprising. ApOcALyPs and FlameIORI complete the top 3, and GameReplays had an interview with both players!
Here you find the discussion page related to the Player of the Quarter and the interviews.
1. ExCaL
The quarter was barely started and ExCaL was already behind. It was ApOcALyPs who was the number one in the beginning of the quarter. However, ExCaL managed to get him on the number one spot before the quarter was over with 4 tournament wins.
He started off with the Champions League, a long tournament with 3 group stages. ExCaL qualified with easy by winning all his sets in the qualifications in the UK/Germany group. -Wraith (1) and Logica (3) were the only players that got a win off ExCaL. The first group stage was quite the same, victories against Kin9T0X1C (8-0), ExiLe (8-0) and THEGAME03 (7-1) resulted him in winning the group and qualifying for the next round.
Another group stage with spL (8-2), Dense (8-2) and Leader (9-1) granted him a spot in the Final Four. In the semifinal he won vs BoYcaH (7-2) and ViViD was the final opponent: 7-3 was the score and gave him the first tournament win in the fourth quarter.
spL was also the opponent in the final of another King of BO1 tournament, where ExCaL's stealth won vs spL's tank. A small tournament resulted in the 2nd win.
The Kaution Kup was the tournament where ExCaL surpassed ApOcALyPs. A perfect score in the semifinals vs DoMiNaToR (7-0) didn't scare Fargo for the finals. It was Fargo who was slightly ahead after 9 games, but it was ExCaL who won the final after winning 3 games in a row: 7-5.
Another short tournament, the Christmas Special, resulted in his fourth win. After beating BiG^SiZe in the semifinals, he won with 7-3 vs Marakar. After destroying the lixes of Marakar, he could easily push into the base in the final game (see above picture).

2. ApOcALyPs
ApOcALyPs might be the biggest surprise. He was the 2nd best performing player in the last quarter, and with 2 victories he might be another upcoming player that will knock on the expert door in 2022.
The first win was the 3vs3 ShockReplays tournament, where he won against Ammo/FireLorD/Queenmuff in the finals. His team consisted of himself, ViViD and FlameIORI.
ApOcALyPs won also the Continental Cup, the little brother of the Champions League. In the Middle East/Africa Group #01, ApOcALyPs qualified for this tournament and was placed in a group with Moliere, HeRo and TwoFacePH. Moliere was the only one who made it a close set (5-3), and both players were qualified for the next round.
Speaking about close sets, ApOcALyPs vs Goldfish was the closest set in the tournament. A decider was needed for ApOcALyPs to get rid of this fish (6-5). An epic tt got him such an advantage in the early game that this paint mirror was over in 5 minutes (see above picture). A 6-3 win in the semifinals vs Hsn'Leb made him qualify for the final where he meet Moliere again. This time it wasn't as close as the first time, a 7-2 victory resulted in the second tournament win for ApOcALyPs.
A third place in the High Semi High Stakes (7-6 vs Queenmuff) was his third noticable performance that made the list for this quarter.
Due to his impressive performances, ApOcALyPs was selected as the player to do an interview with. Here you can find the interview.

3. FlameIORI
FlameIORI completes the top 3. As mentioned above, FlameIORI's first tournament win came from the 3vs3 ShockReplays Tournament. The second win he got in the High Semi High Stakes.
FlameIORI had a comfortable run. A 6-2 victory vs Moliere in the quarterfinals, a 7-2 win vs Queenmuff and FlameIORI was in the final, where Metti was his opponent. Another 7-2 victory meant his 2nd tournament win this quarter. The last game of this final was on Natural Threats (stealth vs tox), where the buggies of FlameIORI were a pain in the ass for Metti (see above).
Just as ApOcALyPs, FlameIORI won also 2 tournaments in the fourth quarter of 2021. As we could not decide who to do an interview with, we went for two interviews. Here you can find out more about FlameIORI and his fabulous hair.

The next edition resulted in his first and only tournament win for this quarter. 3-0 vs TeeeZ in the semifinals and 4-1 against PePsI made him climb the rankings of the Player of the Quarter, resulting in the fourth spot.

Marakar has been knocking on the expert door for a while now. He won the Not An Expert Not A Problem by beating spL (6-5) in the quarterfinals, Roll (7-5) in the semifinals and Reznov (7-5) in the finals. Recent performances in challenges vs experts raised the discussion already: Is Marakar expert?

5. ViViD
It is getting a bit crowded in the top 5 this quarter, as ViViD is another player that reached the top 5. ViViD won the 3vs3 ShockReplays Tournament, and reached the finals of the Champions League. After beatin Roll (7-3) in the Final Four, it was ExCaL who took the win in the final: 7-3. After this tournament, ViViD was busy and didn't enroll in tournaments. If he did, he would be a good contester for the first spot.

8. FreeStyLeR
FreeStyLeR won the Clanwars of October. Truth to be told, this wasn't the most active month in CW history. FreeStyLeR also reached the semifinals of the Kaution Kup, where the match for third place was not played.
