Player of the Third Quarter - 2021

Hello Generals!

With September's ending, and waking up Billie Joe Armstrong, it is time for another Player of the Quarter. We are already in the third quarter of this year, and it is time for another recap. With another OoE top 3, we have some new players in the top 10 and in this list in general. Who are they? Read below and find out.

1. ExCaL^

Different quarter, same number 1. For the fourth time in a row, ExCaL^ won the player of the quarter. He won five (!) tournaments, and finished as third twice in Clanwars.

His first tournament win this quarter was the King of BO1 [3], where he won in the final against Hsn'Leb. An OoE victory was his second tournament win, with Logica and Vivid he won the 3vs3 Hostile Dawn No Rush tournament against another team with only experts (Dominator, Size and Scuba) with 4-2.

After this team performance, he now faced his fellow team mate Vivid in the final of the Strangelands IV tournament and beat him with 7-3. This match was also the final for the Van Gogh Tournament, the score was now closer (5-3), but still another victory and tournament win for ExCaL^.

Tournament win number 5 was the Tank Tourny Mirror, a 6-2 victory vs StaZzzz made him again the biggest winner of this quarter.

Where his clan mate climbed one spot, Vivid dropped one. The runner up from last edition now completes another top 3 with OoE members. He won one tournament when teaming with ExCaL^, and lost two finals when facing him. With one win and two finals, Vivid made it into the top 3.

4. Leikeze

1x IPB Image 1x IPB Image
Leikeze retired as admin, but not as player. After getting Reznov as a team mate he won the King of BO1 [2vs2]. They won the final against MrCallMeSam/bigGanja. They already met each other in the group stage, but that match was a win for MrCallMeSam/bigGanja.

Leikeze got a second place in the Ladder Wars of June, where he got defeated by Logica (4-0).

4. BiG^SiZe

1x IPB Image 1x IPB Image
BiG^SiZe got himself in the top 5 last second. He won the 18th Anniversary Tournament, the last tournament of the quarter. BiG^SiZe did not have an easy route. First match was against Hsn'Leb. The quarterfinals (RagingG_K) and semifinals (DoMiNaToR) where not easy either. After knocking all those players out, he met with another expert: -SeXiie. With him as tox, vs -Sexiie's nuke, he had the advantage on Wastelands Warlords. He didn't lost his focus, even when Xezon put 50k as starting money, and won the final.

With his opponent in the semifinals, DoMiNaToR, and scuba, he got second place in the 3vs3 No Rush tournament.

Performances
Winner 18th Anniversary Throwback Tournament
Runner up 3vs3 Hostile Dawn No Rush

4. Reznov

1x IPB Image 1x IPB Image
Reznov is on the same spot as his mate for a day, Leikeze. They won the King of BO1 [2vs2] with each other. With a second spot in Clanwars last month, he also shares the same spot with his fellow team mate.

7. Marakar

1x IPB Image 1x IPB Image
Marakar, mentioned as a possible future expert, finds himself in the top 10. Winning the Clanwars in June was his only win this quarter. A third place in the King of BO1 [2vs2] with FireLorD (lost semifinals against bigGanja/MrCallMeSam and won the third place match against Hsn'Leb/-Wraith) and reaching the semifinals in the Van Gogh Tournament (lost vs late winner ExCaL^ with 4-2) where the other noticable tournaments this quarter.

With the 7th spot, Marakar shows he is playing on a high level recently. He is considered of the rising stars of ZH, and it is time for an interview with him. Go check out his interview!

9. Satanic1

1x IPB Image
Satanic1 crowned himself as the best semi player, he won the Y2k21 Semi WS. With only 7 lost games in the whole tournament, he played 7 sets, Satanic1 was superior. From the quarterfinals until the finals, he lost only 5 games. Abuka (6-1), Dudush (6-2) and Magical (7-2) didn't have an answer on Satanic1's gameplay. With this great performance, he won $275.

Performances
Winner Y2k21 Semi WS

9. RaDaR

1x IPB Image
RaDaR played in the same tournament, but was defeated in round 2. Luckily, there was a second chance for him: 2nd Chance Semi WS. He won his first match quite easily (5-1 vs Death L Sender), the next match was a nail biter. All games in this bo11 were needed to have a winner: RaDaR won with 6-5 against Ant1_Pr0. That these players are quite even was also shown in the Champions League. In a fixed 8 matches, the score was 4-4. Since they had the same points collected in the other games, a decider had to be played. RaDaR won also this decider.

After this close match, he had it way easier vs ku7ari (5-0) in the semifinals. FunkyPanda was his opponent in the final, but could only take 4 wins (7-4), having RaDaR his first tournament win and having him in the top 10 of the best performing players of this quarter.

Performances

9. GOLDFISH123

1x IPB Image

Performances
Winner Clanwars August

9. Mp3

1x IPB Image
Mp3, first time in this list. He joined several Ladder Wars, but never got higher than the last spot. Until this quarter. The Ladder Wars of August was a prey for Mp3. The first match against HeRo was a 3-1 victory for Mp3 (he lost a month earlier with 3-1 against him). The final was a close one, but in the end it was Mp3 who took it (4-3) and because of that, he finds himself in the top 10.

Performances
Winner Ladder Wars August

9. FreeStyLeR

1x IPB Image
FreeStyLeR got in this list last second, winning the last edition of the Clanwars of the third quarter was enough for sneaking into the top 10.

Performances
Winner Clanwars September

15. Hsn'Leb

3x IPB Image
Hsn'Leb had a frustrating quarter. He ended up twice on the second spot for the Clanwars and lost the final against ExCaL^ for the king of BO1 [3]. He didn't have any luck in the 2vs2 version. He got -Wraith as a mate, already some bad luck, but lost the semifinals of that tournament. Revenge was not given, due to internet problems his team also lost the match for the third place.

16. DoMiNaToR

1x IPB Image 1x IPB Image
Team DoMiNaToR (with BiG^SiZe and scuba) lost the final in the Hostile Dawn No Rush tournament with 4-2 against OoE. A third place was achieved for DoMiNaToR in the 18th Anniversary Throwback Tournament. DoMiNaToR beat two experts with the lesser army. Against BoYcaH he won with inf vs BoYcaH's tox on The Frontline. The next round was an even greater performance. With one of the weakest armies (China) against one of the best armies (Afg), DoMiNaToR was able to beat Fargo. Seeing the drama between both, DoMiNaToR even created a topic for this match very short after.

In the semifinals, DoMiNaToR had once again the weaker army (swg vs demo), but could not repeat his previous performances against BiG^SiZe. In a very interesting match with a base trade situation, it was BiG^SiZe who fought his way to the final. DoMiNaToR got a chance for revenge against _spL_. Finally DoMiNaToR had the advantage (tox, vs USA on Silet River) in a matchup and he did not throw this away.

DoMiNaToR also reached the semifinals of Strangelands IV, where he lost barely against Vivid (7-6). After being 4-1 behind, he managed to pull himself back to 4-4. He had chances to win the last match, but it was Vivid who got himself into the finals.

Performances

21. Abuka

1x IPB Image

Performances
Runner up Van Rijn Tournament

21. -Sexiie

1x IPB Image
Expert player -Sexiie got all the way to the final of the 18th Anniversary Throwback Tournament, but lost unfortunately against BiG^SiZe on a tox favoured map (Wasteland Warlords). Still, he won $50 for winning 4 matches.
