Replay Review by Herb

Skill rating: 8.5/10. Both players playing quite well here. Fargo was a bit inattentive with some of his units / dozers and Shaye was a bit passive. I would rate the skill level of this replay as 'low expert'.

Entertainment rating: 5/10. Nothing too special about this game but a nice ending.

Decent starting build, with one weakness however. I would say that if nuke went fast tech, you would definitely be on the back foot as you wouldn't have enough units to make a push. However for what Shaye did, it worked well.

You took a bit of a doge nap with your dozers at the start, I think at least one could have been saved and then the game was economically in your favour.

As you know tank lixes are slower to build and require a propaganda to get the speaker tower bonus, so unsure if that was the right move here. Maybe seeing you had the 3 supply advantage it would be better to go 2 wf and tech up with ecm / prop? That way you could take your oil too, maybe send a flamer to his oil and get the eco advantage and go migs a bit later to deal with nuke cannons.

Unbelievable engagement on his overlords / gatts / ecms and that was very WP.

Very nice push at the end with the troop crawler and flamer, worked nicely biggrin.gif

I don't really like your build here. I think it is much better to go either fast tech (as tank has a slow building lix) or 3 supplies with the front WF as Fargo did. BM first, then 2 gatts afterwards incase he is going for lix.

The 2nd war factory kinda becomes useless and delays your propaganda more, although I understand you may have done this incase he went for 2 wf or fast lix.

Very nice dozer hunt, WP.

Good decision to go back and defend after the dozer hunt - it was all you could do seeing you didn't have control of your forward supplies.

I think going for a command center was a mistake though. I would rather build a bunker on one side as it was obvious he was going to push at some stage, either that or use it for overlord / ecm. Don't think lotus would work here as he probably would have outposts on the side. However, the more time spent in your base, the worse for you as he was on 3 supplies and possibly his oil as far as you knew (he wasn't, but always have to take it into account).

The cause of this loss was being inattentive of your units when he started to push. It was very obvious this was what he was going to do at some point, so always pay attention! The first bad engagement lowered your unit count, so that his next push was going to be successful.

Also, I would not engage with your units so much in the open, stay by your bunkers in this type of situation unless you are 100% you can retreat when you want to and your ecms still cover fire.

Unlucky him doing that last push lol, game was so close.
