the quards was to keep him busy, if I had stayed back and waited for bb I would have lost much earlier

I agree about the ones which killed the supply but sending 4 quads at an OL serves no purpose :/. You wouldnt have lost at all, given proper micro theres no way he could catch your BBs without a helix ( which he didnt have at the time you teched up). Dont get me wrong , was clearly an entertaining replay

Fantastic game, one of the best i've seen. So many subtle things which have been missed tongue.gif.

I'll flag one MAJOR mistake first, Humbug letting Strauss (aka Excal^) have the left rig for a long long time. This made a large difference. The odd micro mistake and unit lost on mines (eg Jarmen on CC mines towards end), but very minor things as it was an insane game!

I'll highlight some of the perhaps missed things. Humbug saw the helix in the late mid game and lured it towards an OL (in the middle of the map) and Excal thought "hmmmm, helix > OL tongue.gif", but a quick 3 quads popped out the stealthed tunnel raped the helix in seconds - a really nice and planned move (I think/hope tongue.gif).

Humbug really had the upper hand for the first half, but could just never QUITE finish Strauss (where have I seen this before tongue.gif), I loved the constant quads up flanks which is sooo annoying for china. Perhaps Humbug could have used the stealth rebels more to take over buildings, also, more EARLY hijackers as Strauss built no LOs for a long time (also was VERY slow putting dozers on mines, in fact, one dozer never was put on mines wink.gif.

Great use of tunnels meant that Strauss was always fighting on multiple fronts which is EXACTLY how GLA should be played. If only Humbugs anthrax hit the units towards the end and he didn't lose the Jarmen to CC mines, then the results could have been different.

It's interesting to note the difference in style between Humbug and someone like Eficko. Eficko would have held back a LOT more and spammed black markets and this leads to a very different type of game (not saying it's better or worse, just different), Humbug never built one. I think a more enjoyable one ([A]ncient always played more in this attacking style, Arecal just did crazy things tongue.gif).

I was convinced that Strauss had lost, then I was convinced Humbug had lost, then Strauss etc etc etc, the hallmark of a great game. I think anyone who is saying it was only 'ok' is really being very nit picky tongue.gif, but everyone is entitled to their opinion banana.gif

Overall 9/10, it's been voted legendary (6 votes to 3) cool2.gif

I liked the replay serious entertainment value, loose open gaming. Brilliant. Unfortunately didnt c who won SE near end. Both players are about equally matched i would say. Initiative taken by both and gr8 comback all round. I would rate it 8/10. It was a lg.
