Tiberium Wars Guide - Nod One Clicks

By _Unknown_ - 31st January 2015 - 11:57 AM

Nod has a killer late game army, but why risk giving your opponent a chance to make a comeback when you can hit him with some base owning powers that can really increase the effectiveness of your current fighting force? Nod's one-clicks are the most deadly support powers in the game.

"Oh NO, please! Not the one clicks, they're so OP!"

Tiberium Chemical Plant

The Tiberium Chemical Plant is a tier 4 building which provides 3 support powers:
  • Seed Tiberium
  • Catalyst Missile
  • Tiberium Vapor Bomb
With the Catalyst Missile and Vapor Bomb being as powerful as they are, the Tiberium Chemical Plant becomes EXTREMELY important in the late game. Protect it well - it is likely to be a very high-value target, and will be costly to replace. Remember to set up your economy well if you are going to "click" someone because they are very expensive and you can lose the game if you put all your cards on that rush.

How to counter one-clicks?

It's very important to adapt to your enemy's tactic before you get clicked. One of the best counters is to make a big aggression over your opponent so he doesn't have the time to click you, as he needs to defend his base. Trying to keep the enemy busy will give you a significant period of time to prepare for a rush. Keep in mind that Cranes can help you recover faster and create an advantage in game.

Seed Tiberium

Too cheap to be true, this ought to be spammed as much as possible, especially when facing GDI - the economic advantage is well worth building the Tiberium Chemical Plant for. Let's put it this way - if you face GDI on Tournament Arena, and the game gets into the late stages, you can use GDI's expensive unit costs against them, and destroy the enemy's Spikes to starve his economy while you spam whatever you wish.

Use it as soon as your Tiberium Chemical Plant is up. Try to target the drop in an isolated area of a Tiberium field, to make sure you drop as much Tiberium as possible. Also, avoid dropping the Tiberium into a blue field, as it will take up the space that could be used to grow blue Tiberium instead.

Seed Tiberium can be nice way to overplay your opponent. Use Seed Tiberium on his base (preferrably a Tech Center or a War Factory) to convince him that you are sending a Tiberium Vapor Bomb his way. He will sell off his structures to get money, but you can now send the real Vapor Bomb to other structures and make him look bad.

As cannon fodder
If there is anti-air nearby and you can't call your Vapor Bomb, use Seed Tiberium first and sacrifice it. Your Vapor Bomb will come to its destination.

Tiberium is very important in the late game, don't hesitate in seeding it.

Catalyst Missile

The bane of any non-Nod player... It is very powerful on its own; a well placed shot can knock out 3 or even 4 Refineries, but it really needs support in order to be effective. Have some units on hand to finish off Harvesters damaged by the blast - Stealth Tanks or Vertigoes fit this role nicely. It also works pretty well as an infantry killer in more desperate situations. Keep in mind, though, that the sound given off as the missile launches can be heard by all players; a faster opponent may sell off the Refineries before the missile hits. Note that a Catalyst Missile will destroy only Harvesters which are full of Tiberium. Stealth Tanks can make major damage against half-energy harvesters.

How to defend against this?

There is no counter to this. The only thing you can do is to sell your Refineries fast or split your Harvesters when you hear the vicious song.

When the Catalyst Missile is used, Tiberium remains in the blast zone.

Tiberium Vapor Bomb

The mini-nuke. It can be extremely deadly, and can be a good way of taking out an unguarded Tech Centers, Cranes, War Factories or masses of pesky infantry. Using it in tandem with Vertigoes, Scorpion Tanks, or even Avatars can reap real results as well. To repeat previously given advice, make sure that the path to the target is relatively free of anti-air; the Armageddon Bomber won't stand much of a chance against moderate AA fire. In the same vein, if you're in the mood for killing massed Missile Squads via a support power, don't use this - take the Catalyst Missile or Cloaking Field instead.

How to defend against this?

The best way of defending against this is to make sure you have some infantry on the front line or to place some AA.

You should sell your structures when you see this cloud

Thank you for your attention, commanders. See you on the Tiberium (nope, one-clicks will rekt you) battlefield.
