REPLAY REVIEW BY VANADOSS – (29/05/2007)
---------------------------------

Match Overview
Superb game between skkiller_de and DrunkOnWineGums (Adrenal) on TA. It was a Nod mirror demonstrating brilliant understanding of Nod by both teams. The game was not without minor mistakes but the sheer length of the game can be blamed for that.

In the early game both teams executed standard build orders, leading up to a 3fac spam by both players. A large amount of tanks were deployed by both players and there was a power struggle in the center of the field as Adrenal spidered to the center and placed obelisks to pressure his opponent, and skkiller spammed venoms in a bid to gain air supremacy.

In the mid game both teams continued this power struggle, pushing and shoving with obelisks. There were many epic battles here, mass scorps against mass scorps, buggies with lasers to counter venoms, all the while obelisks going up and off in the background being supported and powered by excellent Beam cannon micro.

Late game followed, a rift torn in the center of the map as both teams scrabbled for any advantage they could. Stalemated both teams tried to flank their opponent, skkiller demonstrating superb use of beam cannons and Adrenal showing exactly how to use vertigos to be the best they can be. Both teams went back to basics and spammed out as many scorps as their now limited funds could allow and this epic game climaxed in one final battle, the winner emerging victorious but the loser able to walk away with pride.

Well, there’s not much to say really. This was an excellent match and you played extremely well. Your micro was superb as was your opponents and you fought hard. I honestly thought with all those venoms out you were going to be run over early, but your buggies came through as a hard counter. I loved your vertigo harassment on this map and your defense against his beam cannons should be documented.
    Tips for improvement
  • Focus fire a bit more. I know with things so hectic it’s extremely tough, but I’m really scrambling for tips. During the venom/buggy fight you could’ve focus fired your buggies to hit his venoms – it looked like you were a bit lax here.
  • Seed Tiberium. In a game where both forces are starved for funds this ability comes through as a must do. You eventually started doing it but earlier on it could’ve given you the advantage you needed to overcome your opponent.
  • Try flanking a bit more. Often you hit straight down the middle and very rarely did you make a serious flank down the side. A few stealthed scorps (like skkiller) some stealth tanks or stealthed beam cannons could’ve done some real damage in the back of his base.
  • Take the tiberium spikes. In a long game like this their income can not be ignored. Your opponent eventually got one but they were unused for about two thirds of this game.

Well, you played just as well as your opponent here, making a few minor mistakes that cost you the game in the end. I especially liked your stealthed scorpions round the top of his base late game, and your Beam cannons usage was even better than your opponents here. Unfortunately your opponent had a better economy than you here giving him a huge advantage for most of the game.
    Tips for Improvement
  • You were very careless with your venoms early, they could’ve been used much better to harass than fighting his scorps while he had buggies around. You wasted an advantage you could have exploited far more.
  • See tip 2 for your opponent.
  • Bolster your economy as the game goes on. I know there wasn’t much on the map by that stage however you could’ve taken those two spikes much earlier in the game. Also you got booted out of your blue tiberium field and never expanded back to there. That field was full by the end of the match, there was so much money there you could’ve started the spam all over again!
  • Pick your targets with the beam cannons a bit more. His air tower was wide open to a surprise beam cannon attack – if you got lucky maybe his vertigos would have gone with it.
  • Tech back up. He killed your tech center and you had no operations center. Those endgame structures aren’t as important for Nod but they do allow you to build obelisks as well as Beam Cannons – the two staple “units” of your heavy defense.
