My m8 did this freaking st rush that could have ended it a lot sooner if one of his st didnt bug out.

His strat is way too risky imo and i could have done a lot better job. Anyway some comments much appreciated. First online game ^^

REPLAY REVIEW BY AGMLAUNCHER - 28 MAR 2007 18:25
---------------------------------

Overview
This is replay that demonstrates why the "all powerful" shadow team "rush" is a pointless waste of time and won't beat anyone who's half decent at the game. The build order needed to mass shadow teams leaves you completely 100% vulnerable to mass predators.
Meanwhile the build order used by the GDI player, a very standard build order, counters it just fine. A specialized anti-shadow team build order would have completely dominated the shadow teams even more.

Good build order. Solid demonstration of basic economy macromanagement techniques (selling first refinery and replacing it with a follow up while your first harvester is still gathering). Also good expansion early on. You probably should have gone for faster tibspikes since there are two of them that are very easily accessible. Very smart to keep pressure on your opponent. While his shadow teams need to wait to recharge, you were able to own him with constant predator attacks. In general, excellent play from you.
    Tips for improvement
  • Perhaps if you're worried about shadow teams, make a couple anti-infantry towers at the start or make a pitbul and a few APCs.
  • Make a slightly stronger economy and another WF as soon as you can.
  • Scout his expansion more just in case he built something there.

What works against the AI will not work against a human. Going shadow teams, especially with the build order you used, is just not a good idea. The fact that predators raped your base faster than your shadow teams raped his is proof that if you want to get into a base killing race, predators are going to beat shadow teams.
    Tips for improvement
  • Dont try and win with shadow teams. I suggest watching the replay and seeing what your opponent used for a build order. Copy that from now and make scorpions while teching up, and you'll be much better off.
  • Perhaps try and attack with shadow teams sooner. Don't rely on them, but try and take out a target like a WF rather than massing the huge number needed to take out an entire construction yard.

Thanks for the tips biggrin.gif I wasn't sure if i should go for fast engis to tibpike or just keep building ref's as fast as possible. I think you are right though, building that barracks wouldnt have set me back too much.
