Tip of the Week # 36 - One Percenters: 36-40

By Incia - 24th February 2012 - 20:35 PM

Welcome to our next edition of "one percenters".

This is part two of these new One Percenters and in this edition we will take a look of five different small aspects of the game. You'll get answers to questions such as; how much is the Crawler actually worth when taking Tech Structures? Is the Hurricanes worth using? Different ways of denying enemy Tiberium?

Index

36. Crawler Capture Point Value
37. GDI Sensor Pods
38. Shoot Enemy Uplinks From Afar
39. Tiberium Crystal Armor Type
40. Force-Fire Tiberium To Deny Them

36. Crawler Capture Point Value

All ground units in C&C 4 have a capture weight same as their CP cost (except Crawlers):
  • Tier 1 Light Units: 3CP
  • Medium Ground Units: 6CP
  • Tier 2 Heavy Units: 8CP (for example GDI Armadillo)
  • Tier 3 Heavy Units: 10-12CP
  • Crawlers: 20CP
This Screenshot below shows that a Crawler weights 20CP when capturing Nodes or Tech Buildings. Two High Confessors cost 20CP too and if you look at the Uplink meter you'll see it's standing still. These Nod units and GDI Support Crawler are both the same weight when capturing Tech Structures.

All Crawlers in the game also weight 20CP (even when you get 50 Victory Points (VP) for killing them). Furthermore, air units and burrow units are unable to capture Tech Buildings which means their capture weight is 0CP.

37. GDI Sensor Pods

This is the only GDI unit able to decrease enemy armor. It's mostly used for stealth detection but if microed well you can mark enemy units to be killed with it. Units such as Reckoner which has great armor can be weakened with a Sensor Pod. You can also weaken the threated Aftershocks and make their 2700 Hit-Points (HP) less scary. Sensor Pods also work on enemy Crawlers, which will nullify their stealth bonuses and also weaken their Heavy armor.

38. Shoot Enemy Uplinks From Afar

Watch out for dangerous Crawler drops on enemy territory, you don't want to lose your valuable Tier 3 units to one fast Crawler smash. Stay away from the Uplink and shoot it from a safe distance. Nod can also use the 10SP Support Power Eyes of the People to out-range the Uplink Towers radius.

39. Tiberium Crystal Armor Type

It is not documented anywhere but Tiberium Crystals have Weak to Laser armor, same as Heavy units. Units such as Refractor and Thunderhead will 2-shot-kill a Tiberium Crystal, like seen in the screenshot below.

Both Blue and Green Tiberium Crystals have 500 HP. As an example a Refractor does 250 damage to one Crystal.

40. Force-Fire Tiberium To Deny Them

To deny a Tiberium Crystal, simply force-fire (hold Ctrl and left mouse-click) it with a selected Combat unit.

Note: You can't kill a Tiberium Crystal on the Drop Pod, it will just instantly respawn. You have to move it, drop it down and then force-fire to kill it.

Other ways of instantly destroying a Tiberium Crystal:
  • Deploying a Crawler over them to crush them.
  • Build or summon a big Tower slightly over the Tiberium Crystal to kill them.
  • Crawler Drop in Spawn or Uplink over an enemy carrying Tiberium.
