Bioware has announced on their blog an official tie-in novel to Andromeda titled: "Mass Effect: Annihilation". Written by award-winning American writer Catherynne M. Valente, Bioware specifically states how the story will cover the fifth and last Ark, the Keelah Si'yah, and its inhabitant's fight for survival.
We gain a bit more insight into the situation faced by the Ark as it states that "A pathogen is discovered aboard the ark after many drell are found dead in their cryo pods. As the pathogen jumps species, the ship’s systems begin to fail, making it clear this is no accident".
It is no doubt sad for us gamers to not be able to experience this continuation of Andromeda in the form of a single-player DLC but nonetheless we can expect some form of closure for the game. That said, it'll be some time before we can get our hands on the novel because the scheduled release date is stated as Annihilation arrives in US, Canadian, and UK stores on June 26, 2018 (August 28, 2018 in Australia).
