Eh, we will see if the economy is interesting. The only selling point they have right now is "Look at all the fucking units! SO MANY UNITS IS STRATEGERY!" I hope they've got a smart guy on the team making that gameplay. That sweet sweet gameplay.
to me supreme commander is better than AoA will ever be AoA is shit in every possible way complicated fucked up economy : check fuck up tech tree : check imbalanced like fuck : check not micro oriented at all : check spamming only one or two kinds of units to win : check laggy like fuck and units take long time to respond : check its player base is falling dramatically in less than 2 months after release : check you got a very good PC and you can't run this game on max settings though it has shit graphics anyway : check shit ladder, no tournaments, no good players or any sort of competition : check the developers are not listening and acting like nazis on their forums (although they listened before release) : check
I don't like the look of this new game, too many units on the field which distracts from the core micro elements that make RTS so fun. More units, less micro, more luck and less fun.
the special effects might look impressive but thats about it.
units are too small and dont look distinctive enough, you dont know what you're dealing with unless you zoom all the way in. not to mention units look really ugly visually
such large armies mean everything depends on size. small-scale attacks will be pointless since everyone will be running around with giant blobs of vehicles to crush little attacks within seconds. also looks like such large armies are a pain to micro well.
the environment looks like crap, literally. there's no detail at all, no nature or buildings.
still waiting for the real C&C Generals 2 successor or at least a worthy candidate that can reproduce the fun challenging gameplay of the old Generals/ZeroHour delivered in a new package.
ashes of singularity is the best rts to come out, game is flat out amazing. grey goo and act of aggression are failures.
It's in PRE alpha I really don't know how you can be so sure this early on if I'm honest. People said the same about AoA

AoS is made for all the Supreme Commander fanboys that were crying for a new large scale RTS. Even if I am not interested in it at all, its cool to see that a new RTS is on its way and people are hyped about it, hope it will get a strong community. =)

no tournaments: check
Oh there were quite some tourney's so far, but as far as I remember you sign up for two of them but never showed up. So plz stop whining about this particular point.

when zero hour came out there was tournaments for thousands of dollars a zero hour player called dackel made a lot of money from playing cnc games http://www.dackel.cc/Media.html there is a zero hour tournament with a prize pool of 213$ being held right now http://www.gamereplays.org/community/_100_...ow-t969935.html one day tournaments with no prize pool are not real tournys as far as i'm concerned don't get me wrong i never and will never play for money. i won a 200$ tournament once and never took the money. http://forums.swr-productions.com/index.php?showtopic=8651 but it always feels good to play in real tournaments with real competitive gamers. i got better micro and superior BO and that won me the game. feels better than yea i spammed superhinds and was so lucky that they responded when i told them to in crucial engagements
developers are not listening and the game is dying. i tried, i posted on their forums. no one listened. so i give up until they release a mega patch or make a good expansion mod or maybe a couple thousand dollars tournaments. if none of those happened i'm not going to play.
This game looks like Supreme Commander + Sins of a Solar Empire both are great games. And you can have micro with large scale games like these as well -- the micro is with small unit groups or with more important units when you have large groups.
I play the beta and I have to say that this is the best large-scale RTS since TA. It's better than SupCom, period.
Multiplayer support looks very promising too -- season 1 is starting with an official tournament for top players at the end of the season, with streaming and replays: http://forums.ashesofthesingularity.com/476545
http://steamcharts.com/app/228880 There are hardly any players playing. Perhaps if the game catches on. For now it's just to time consuming to start a section.
Anyone else here plays this game? It doesn't have a big community, but the good thing is most people play ranked so it's still very quick to search ranked. I am Rank Legendary #23 at the moment and I can find ranked games within a few minutes usually.
Seems no one's playing it Btw to be fair, the game unit design and tactical level are not very good (worse than SupCom for example). The strategic level is what stands out though.
