So to those MMA fans in this board who haven't heard, it seems to be almost official. Ever since Timmy left the UFC and Fedor left M-1, things are going down, even Fedor's management is saying most of it contractually will happen.

What I mean is that Fedor finally fights a top 10 HW after so many years, it maybe big slouch Tim Sylvia, but it's someone. I predict Fedor Armbar in round one. I hope Timmy does put in a really good fight though, hopefully not getting his ass submitted quick.

http://www.sherdog.com/news/news.asp?n_id=12220

Also, for the disbelievers for Fedor himself..

I also posted this thread so that general MMA news aside from the UFC can be posted whenever there's a fairly interesting fight card around the corner. It already passed but I was planning to post my thoughts on the Frank Shamrock and Cung Le fight. Le's striking was great and at one point Frank almost had him, but Frank took just too much abuse and couldn't make it to the 4th round.

I have been watching the new seaon of TUF.

This show is so embarrassing for and MMA fan like me.

The show is all about Dana White swearing any chance he an get to make himself look tough. If not that its about a bunch of immature classless men breaking a house and acting like idiots.

TUF is horrible for MMA as a sport. This is another reason I am a fan of GSP. He's a man who conducts himself in a manner that a professional athlete should.

Anyways IMO Silvia is barely deserving of his rank in top 10. I dislike the guy like everyone else.

The big clumsy oaf has no dexterity. Just long arms.

But the real important news is that there is only 9 days until UFC 83!!!!!

I only watched TUF in the 1st season, that from what many have seen is the worst of all seasons since it was like a pure reality show mixed with MMA. It also had a fair share of egos colliding, but gave birth to some of the most talented generation of UFC fighters right now. But yes, Dana White is an over opinionated asshat who thinks he's invulnerable since he's working for the Fertitas and running the UFC. He could act more professional, but that's on rare occasions.

Forrest Griffin, Diego Sanchez, Kenny Florian, and Josh Koscheck(my fav next to Forrest).

As for Tim, yep I agree, he's barely top10 world HW material, but there's not many good top10's even in the UFC, so it's obvious he's in their top5. I made a long post on another thread explaining how HW was and is so I don't need to go back to it.

You also know that Kenny Florian is gonna be the color commentator taking over Joe Rogan's place for UFC 83? It'll be odd without Joe(since he's amazingly knowledgable, and is a funny guy). But I hope Kenny can do the job right.

Where is Joe going?

I loved Coture as colour commentator. He knows his shit.

I am not sure, I think Joe may have a comedy act on that night, or some prior engagement.

Rumored fight card for Fedor vs. Sylvia fight, wow, gotta admit that's a good card for Heavyweights.

More or less a Bump, and I don't think this belongs in the UFC 83 thread since it's outside UFC anyway.

It's pretty much more or less confirmed by Fedor himself, he'll be fighting Tim July 19, no organization announced yet as to who'll actually be hosting it, but Affliction clothing will be one of the main hosts/sponsors whatnot. Interesting, he'll get another 2 fights this year also, maybe he'll have the Randy fight in October or December.

Damnit, Liddell is off the UFC 85 main card.

I really wanted the battle of the hype machines to go at it, Chucky vs. Rashad. I think Chuck could take it but I want Rashad to win, but that's no longer gonna happen.

I think Rashad could have taken him. His training parter is GSP and that has to have effect on your take down and wrestling skill imo. whistling.gif

The Greg Jackson camp is on a roll tbh.

Rashad Evans

GSP

Keith jardine

Nate Marquardt

Patrick Cote

are all coming off wins. Says something about the camp imo.

Yep, their camp is doing amazingly well, unlike Team Quest who's been doing terrible so far this year, as well as last sad.gif.

Also they have Jardine who was able to decision Chuck. If Rashad applied some of the same tactics Keith did in a fight against Chuck, could go the same way. But Chuck does have good TDD so he'll probably sprawl quite a bit against Rashad for any takedowns or at least be pushed into the cage and forced into a clinch.

I hope Xtreme Couture's camp does good also, I want Forrest to beat Rampage.

On an added note: Rich Clementi is fighting in UFC 84. Dude is a warrior, he's had 5 fights, all of which are wins since September of 07. He also fought at UFC 83 this past saturday beating Stout. And he takes a fight in short notice just barely a month later. If he keeps this up, and keeps winning, he's gonna rise up the LW top 10 fast. I also like him since he shut up that annoying cocky bastard Melvin Guillard.

Fitch gonna get demolished by GSP as I've thought before. To me Fitch is Josh Koscheck, but bigger and stronger, although not quite as an impressive wrestler as Kos. If GSP comes in the same dominant fashion he's been in the past 3 fights, it'll be over quick.

I'm more concerned on Hughes beating Alves so he can fight Serra after.
And only 3 more days till DREAM 2! Can't wait.

Adding a few side notes, I think Wandy may beat Jardine. Xtreme Couture has some excellent BJJ specialists(Jacare/Drysdale) and he's working with Forrest and Randy, so I'm sure they'll have a good gameplan for it. Also noting this bad-ass magazine cover of the aforementioned men of XC camp.

IPB Image

Also, Travis Lutter got cut from the UFC. Source/reason here:
http://mmajunkie.com/news/4224/travis-lutt...rom-the-ufc.mma

Final note: I'm a moron, I didn't even realize DREAM 3 is less than 2 weeks away. That's right, DREAM 2 is less than 2 days from this posting, and 3 is 13 days. Those crazy Japanese. DREAM 3 will be resuming the Lightweight Tournament from DREAM 1, and it's main event is Melvin Manhoef, his opponent isn't confirmed, but rumored to be Ralek Gracie. I'll be rooting for Marvelous Melvin, dood is a big scary looking guy for Middleweight.

Gonna add another post here with my viewing of DREAM 2 results. I thought I wouldn't be able to watch this until Saturday since the site that I regularly visit for free mma streams said they couldn't find a stream source, but they got it last second(more like a few minutes late, but still it came in just at the nick of time). Apoc if u read this and don't want to know the results, don't look/read further down biggrin.gif. The one thing I love about DREAM/PRIDE events aside from the fights are the intros for the fighters, they seem quite grandoise and 99% of the music is excellent.

- Opening fight: Aoki vs. Jz rematch. = Aoki worked quite a ground clinic with so many sub attempts in round 1, Jz's only real offensive was a nasty GNP in guard. Jz also took quite a few upkicks to the side of the face, but he seemed rather unfazed by it all. Round 2 came in more sub attempts and some work from Guard while keeping Jz out of striking range with his legs on the ground. Aoki setup an Omaplatta, but Jz was able to get out of it similar how Franklin masterfully got out of Lutter's armbar attempt. The judges give this to Aoki. He put in more submission attempts and controlled most of the fight, Aoki looks quite emo/crybaby at the end while making his speech, he must be very emotional for his victory. Jz should've went for more standup, he can easily outstrike him, but seemed rather apprehensive.

On to the Middleweight tournament fights!

- Minowaman vs. Kin Taiei = Personally I hardly know any about these 2 fighters. Minowaman sounds more familiar to me, but I know as much about him as Taiei. Taiei wins it simply by outstriking and stuffing takedowns from his opponent, Minowa did work in some takedowns but Taiei had control from bottom in guard too. Both fighters seemed quite worn out and exhausted at the end.

- Dong Sik Yoon vs. Shungo Oyama = I've heard a bit about Yoon, he's one of Korea's top MMA fighters despite his poor record(3-4). That isn't to say Korea has bad fighters(after all, they got part canadian, Greg Jackson camp based Denis Kang who fights later), but hopefully Dong wins this. First minute is a feeling out period on the feet, nothing really lands, but Dong goes for a single leg and gets the takedown, a bit of LNP/sub attempts by Dong and most of the first round is passing guard and attempting GNP and subs. Ref stands it up and relocates both to the center of the ring since Dong's head was past the ropes, the crowd jeers. Oyama putting up with being smothered and Dong trying to put in more work at full guard, no real GNP shown for a bit. Dong almost gets an armbar in but Oyama frantically reverses out and now assume mount and into halfguard. Oyama stands up with dong on his back and does leg kicks while Dong takes it, but Ref stands them up. Stream freezes up on Akiyama's funny tanned face, but resumes 10sec later(lol).Stand up work by both with leg kicks(more from Oyama than Dong), Dong tries to reach in with combos, most are checked or don't even do much damage. Another single leg by Dong and he rolls in back into guard. Some attempted GNP, and even Oyama tries an upkick but round ends a second later. Hard one for me to judge, 10-9 Dong, he worked the ground well, but didn't get much done really, did get a few good GNP shots to the head while on the ropes though, Oyama did try for an armbar/kimura attempt early on but Dong got out of it. Round 2 starts, Dong gets a fist in and knocks Oyama down, but he rolls back and gets back to his feet as fast as he fell. Both proceed to stand up with feints and even work clinch with knees, although that lasts short. Another TD by dong and he oddly ends up between Oyama's legs, but Oyama sprawls out and has his back, Oyama tries to strike his back/shoulders, then Dong powers out and slams him at the corner, ref repositions both at center of the ring. Dong does minor GNP, but gets up and Oyama hurriedly attempts to grab the arm in hopes of an armbar as they get back to the ropes in while Dong has Oyama's back and is attempting to pull in a rear naked choke. More ground work in guard as Dong resumes top again as well as some GNP to the face/side(more consistent this time), Oyama is getting smothered by many right hand punches. Dong finally gets full mount and smashes heavy hands onto him, big trouble for Oyama despite them being on ropes. Round 2 ends with Dong looking dominant, I score that 10-9 Dong. Judges gave this to Dong like me, grats 4-4 to Dong Sik Yoon. smile.gif

- Magomed Sultanakhmadov vs. Zelg Galesic = I'm rooting for Galesic since he's a Croatian striker like CC. But other than that, I don't know much about either fighters. Zelg goes into a flurry early on but Mag takes him down, Zelg reverses and gets guard, Mag trying to get Guillotine in but Zelg gets out, Mag reverses out but Zelg instantly armbars him and the tap-out occurs. ZELG WINS, WAR CROATIA!! The armbar people wanted Dong to do came in a fight later smile.gif

- Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza vs. Ian Murphy = Murphy being a last minute unknown for Trigg's replacement, I give him guts like the guy who lost to CC in DREAM 1, I want, no.. I DEMAND Jacare wins this by Brutal sub. I can't sing enough praises for Jacare, after all, he's one of the best, if not the best submission grapplers in all of MMA, just under Roger Gracie. I sorta feel bad for Murphy getting thrown to the wolves like this. Starts off flying knee by Jacare, but Ian catches him and Jacare is on his back but scrambles his way around and both are on the ropes, then Jacare works knees to the head, more scrambling this time center of the ring, as Jacare works his magic submission skills. Ian shows how tough he is and while Jacare has it locked in, isn't applying much pressure. They roll to center of the ring and Jacare on top with Murphy's back exposed, a bit of strikes to the back/head, some GNP ensues, nothing too damaging. Jacare secures Rear naked choke sub to win!!!! WAR JACARE! Doing so also helps Team Couture's stock slightly rise.

- Kiyoshi Tamura vs. Masakatsu Funaki = Sadly like Minoawaman/Taiei, I don't know too much about either. So no one to root for. This one ended rather quick, Both men traded and did damage to each other, but Tamura knocked him down, and went GNP to cause ref stoppage, Tamura wins it. Brutal hammerfists on the face. Last 3 fights ended much sooner than expected, hopefully the last 2 last longer and prove to be a war.

- Denis Kang vs. Gegard Mousasi = Fairly obvious I want Kang for this, but Mousasi is an impressive fighter himself, will be a tough one to call. AZNGSP aka Denis Kang must win! I'm sure Akiyama was watching this with great interest ringside. Denis starts off and trades blows, lands a few, then takes Gegard down. Gegard on bottom hits back of the head shots(to me that's illegal, many would agree), although Kang looks unfazed and does some knees to the side/LNP. Gegard still on bottom tries knees to the side of Kang's face. Kang all the while attempting to pass side mount, eventually Kang is up with Mousasi on the ground trying upkicks, but Kang goes back down and gets in a triangle choke from Gegard while Kang taps sad.gif. Win for Mousasi. Maybe next time Denis. Tonite American Top Team is 0-2 sad.gif

- Kazushi Sakuraba vs. Andrews Nakahara = The legendary Gracie Hunter(Sakuraba) vs someone I haven't really heard from. I expect Sakuraba to win this. Sakuraba comes out with 2 others, all 3 men are dressed up in same outfit and mask, the ref checks all 3 as they enter the ring, all 3 men unmask and Sakuraba is finally revealed lol. Silly moment(also his intro theme music was the best I heard all night). Fight starts, and both start a feeling out period with kicks and dodges and such. Saku goes for a single leg and pushes him to the corner, but Andrews punches him while saku still has the leg, they run around the ring with Saku in a waist clinch, then they eventually stop at the ropes clinched. Andrews does some knees to the side, Ref breaks it up and they resume. Another feeling out period and Saku kicks along with Andrews at the same time, Saku hits his side, Andrews hits his crotch! Saku gets a break to recover. Those broken nuts will most likely affect his performance later on. Fight resumes now, more take down attempts by Saku. Both men do high and low kicks to each other back and forth, some hit, some miss. Andrews does more low kicks to the leg, they eventually get into another clinch to the ropes, and Andrews does knees to the midsection like earlier. Saku stands there hugging and not really doing much but taking damage, Ref breaks it up again, and they resume. Same drill before with Andrews, low kick to the leg. Saku gets a TD in and they work to the corner but they go back up in a clinch of some sort while Saku still has Andrew's leg from the TD attempt earlier, but he brings him back down. Saku on top but Andrews scrambles out and stays aggressive with some punches(he's quite wily, passing Saku's guard and staying offensive even on bottom). Saku gets side control and starts kneeing the back sorta like GSP did the Serra, just not as much nor as effectively. Saku starts using fists to the side, looks like he finally got his offense going with GNP. Andrews gives up his back and Saku is trying to go for RNC, but Andrews face is tucked in to his arms, Saku persists and finally gets it locked in. SAKU SUBMITS ANDREWS WITH REAR NAKED CHOKE(well it looks like a neck crank, a mix of both actually) at the first round. Despite some broken nuts, he fought through and put in nice GNP/submission in the end. Grats to the winners of this event.

LOL, if 2 cans of pepsi in the course of 16 hours counts as caffeine pills, I'll agree tongue.gif. My energy for that was fueled by the event mostly. On a side note, I noticed while Kang was walking up to the ring the commentators even made a quick mentioned of Greg Jackson and Diego Sanchez. Shame we didn't see either or any others of the camp show up to support Kang, would've been awesome to see GSP in Japan too, I bet the crowd could've gone nuts.

And yes, I know GSP is on vacation right now, he even passed fighting on UFC 85(since the card is barely managable at this time, even with Hughes in the main event).

You can watch DREAM 2 fights on youtube, but here's a link to showing most if not all of them.

Yea, I get long winded when I am motivated, this is nothing new to you though since you've read my essay long posts before laugh.gif.

Is it may 11th yet? I want to see Manhoef brutally destroy a Gracie!
Also Mayhem Miller will be fighting in DREAM 3.

As well as a rumor of Aleksander Emelianenko vs. Mark Hunt or Sergei Kharitonov.

DREAM 4's main event is rumored to be Cro Cop vs. Jerome LeBanner(a more than worthy opponent for CC to re-establish himself).

DREAM 3 Card updated, looks like Manhoef will be fighting Kim Dae Won(I don't know who he is sadly). But the other big news about the updated card is that Nick Diaz, everyone's favorite MMA pothead, will also be fighting again Inoue Katsuya.

DREAM 3 will be up tonite at midnight(pacific time). Also I watched inside MMA earlier today, it's been pretty much confirmed officially now. July 19th the Affliction brand card with Fedor vs. Timmy will be here in southern california(anaheim I believe). Contemplating on getting tickets for it.

I've decided not to spoil results with a play-by-play. I'll let you read it on sherdog. I'm watching it now though smile.gif

Was a fairly long event, with many nice, interesting matches. But match of the night easily went to Joachim Hansen vs. Eddie Alvarez. Both put on a show where everyone won, just like Forrest Griffin vs. Steffan Bonnar 1. Most of the people I wanted to win, actually won too.

Another week, another set of MMA.
- WVR Sengoku 2 aired last night, sadly I wasn't able to watch it live on stream since I slept early. But I watched some of the fights earlier today. The Roger Gracie fight went as expected, that is why he's the top grappler in the world. The Randleman fight seemed lackluster, his opponent did more work on striking and even caught Kevin a few times, but Randleman's inactive clinchwork and wrestling squeaked out a decision. The Monson-Barnett fight was interesting(both are friends). Barnett did more work with better striking and getting out of various bottom ground work against Monson's takedowns and sub attempts. Towards the end(last 30 sec), Josh had an unusual position and tried some type of mixed Kimura type anklelock but couldn't get it to go. It eventually ended and the judges decision went to Barnett obviously. Decent effort for Monson but Barnett was clearly the better fighter.
- UFC 84 is around the corner meaning some great fights next saturday, I doubt you'll be as hyped up as before Apoc since it's not GSP fighting. But I do hope to see BJ Penn, Wandy, Machida, and Soko win their fights. I'll probably bump this thread up later this week with more regarding 84.

July is turning out to be a huge month for MMA. While June hosts DREAM 4 and the Middleweight second round of the tournament.

- UFC 86 will be on July 5th, and will settle who'll be their next LHW champion between Forrest and Rampage. I don't really care much for the reality show tbh. But I want Forrest to win it. Will have other fights like Josh Koscheck vs. Dustin Hazelett(I want my boy Kos to take this again), and Frank Mir vs. Justin McCully. On a related note, apparently Mir will be the other coach in TUF Season 8 with Big Nog.
- July 19 will host the Affliction: Banned card. This will be a great card since it has so many good fights. Word is that Affliction is trying to sign Andrei Arlovski as soon as possible to fight Ben Rothwell the IFL heavyweight champion. There's a good promo vid out at: http://www.afflictionbanned.com/
- DREAM 5 in July 21, since Cro Cop will finally face some real competition from veteran K-1 Striker like himself in Jerome LeBanner(CC confirmed it on his blog http://www.mma-id.com/CROCOP/?mod=blog&...5&blid=499). CC and LeBanner fought many many years ago in K-1 and CC got the win, will CC continue his streak against him or will Jerome get the upset? As well as the Lightweight Tournament finals to determine who'll be DREAM's LW Champion.
