All you have to do is follow this easy-to-follow setup guide and you'll be on your way in no time.
1. Click the download link and follow the download instructions. (This can be downloading in the background while we go through steps 2 and 3)
2. Open up your RA3 directory. This can be in a different place depending on which version of the game you have (Standard (CD) was used for the demo):
Standard (CD) - C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Red Alert 3\ Steam - Open your game library -> Right click RA3 -> Properties -> Local Files -> Browse Local Files Origin - C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Red Alert 3\
3. If you already have 1.12.6 installed, you should see a folder called 1.12.6. If you don't, create one.
4. Once your download has finished, extract the files into the 1.12.6 folder, replacing any files when it asks you to.
If you look at your 1.12.6 folder, it should now look like this:
NOTE: If you have 1.12.6 installed, you will also see a file called MapsCommunityPatchTEST.big - this is fine. It just means you'll have the 1.12.6 maps as well. Feel free to delete it if you want.
5. You now need to edit a file so it looks at what you just downloaded. Open 'RA3_english_1.12.SkuDef' in Notepad (NOTE: The language in the file name may vary).
6. Copy and paste this line into the file as below:
add-config 1.12.6\config.txt
6. Close and reopen RA3, et voila! You have the maps! You can now rub it in the faces of all the kids who haven't downloaded it yet.
Please note, this is just a test version of the maps, NOT the final version, so we are expecting to find a few kinks. If you do find anything that looks like it could be a bug, don't hesitate in letting us know. We've created a dedicated thread here for all of the bugs you find. We will make a note of all of the issues raised, but will only now fix issues related to changes made for 1.12.8. The rest will go into the pipeline for the next version.
