I see them as a pretty much lame unit untill I buy forcefields or shard upgrade? So are they worth using before upgrades? They get roughy 100% damage boost + a different firing ( maybe 10 shards instead of 5 plasma discs)
they make decent anti air, but are mostly used to defend whilst teching from what ive mostly seen. also it might be worth mixing them into your army for stealth detection.
like airtaxi said, theyre ok against nod but fail pretty hard against gdi cuz preds would tear their shit up.
Yeah I agree with AirTaxi they are only good against so much..I prefer gun walkers since they beat apc and are much more efficient vs orcas and such..I'm not sure if in scrin vs scrin gun walkers actually destroy same amount of seekers but nevertheless they have more uses imo.
its not that their overall armor is too shabby - they fare respectably v scorps which is why they can be good vs nods
if nod spams only bikes or scorps they may be good enough for holding out vs nods all the way till shards kick in
their main weakness is however their crappy 'gun' type damage resistance, which means anything that shoots bullets at a good rate kinda owns them... including ap apcs, gunwalkers, shard mechapedes, confessors and to a smaller extent buggy+bikes.
alternatively you may go the gunwalker spam route too (and defend), in which case youll usually need to back that up with a fast tech hexapod.
the other option is go aggressive with devourer+gwalker spam which can be quite brutal and force opponents to bunker up.
