a great classic, still holds up even today. There is something charming and addicting about building an army of tanks and steamrolling your opponent.

I grew up playing C&C, so this game holds a special place in my heart wub.gif Wish we could go back to the glory days of RTS.

I've played literally tens of thousands of games of Aftermath, starting right after it came out. It wasn't all that long ago (relatively speaking) that I stopped playing it. So many LAN parties (connected via coax). That game is responsible for my deeply ingrained left click for orders conditioning, which I've never really got over. Still, good times.

The first real game I ever played. More than my childhood, it was a mayor influence in my life.

I first played it on Sega. smile.gif

Happy Birthday

One of the first games I played was the RA1 demo.

I'm still charmed by the game in the occasional comp stomp!

I played some of the first games to hit the console and home PC market yet C&C was and still is my favorite. Two decades of great memories and still playing, they don't make 'em like they used to. Happy B-Day Red Alert!

You guys remember playing on dial-up because that's all that was available? cool2.gif

I was never rich enough to afford playing on dial-up (and when we did, I wasn't smart enough to figure out the online system), so that's how I became the skirmish scrub I am today. biggrin.gif

Apologies for the "false alarm", but word of mouth and Wikipedia were wrong. The game went gold on 17 November 1996 and hit the shelves later in the month. https://web.archive.org/web/19971009175538/http://www.westwood.com/games/redalert/news.html Thanks to Tore from CnC-Comm for pointing it out.

The article is corrected, but we'll just celebrate the game for the rest of the month, then biggrin.gif
