I might actually go back to the old one. I've not heard all sounds, but I felt the old ones were better. Oddly enough I liked the MG42 sound, isn't that how it was supposed to sound? Like paper being shredded?

Who exactly made this Soundpack? We as a community could work with the creator to come up with a great Soundpack, since there are always some issues with "similar sounds" and things like that. In order for this Soundpack to be used competitively, we need distinct sounds, as Kolaris said.

hey guys,-

i am the developer of the soundpack x.xx and I am glad to hear you like it,

unfortunately it is not possible to create a pure, clear mg sound,- because
relic has decided to play two sounds (mg42 & bar) at the same (!) time for the mg! frusty.gif

i choose THIS very cool and clear stuff, to build a new mg42 sound.
BUT the bar-sound AND the sound-control-file *.bsc (controls volume,- highs ,- lows,- length, like an equalizer ingame)
messed up the whole sound. so ingame its sounds terrible!

so i decided to make a "whipping" mg!

if i would edit the *.rgo or *.bsc files from the mg42, to play only one sound (like in mods)
I could no longer guarantee that the soundpack works online!

the u.s. sniper bolt change is extra loud, so they do not always goes down in combat

That's very odd...I know exactly what you mean about .bsc and staying online compatible, but I can't hear anything of the vCoH BAR in the vCoH MG42. Interesting.

the original vcoh sounds are very short, so you have not a "complete" sound

it goes like that,-

_bar: pow -- pow

the "Weapons\BAR\BAR_GJ\BAR_GJ_V2\BAR_V1_02" line

in this soundpack the bar AND the mg42-sound plays much longer-so it does not work!

The ONLY problem I had with the 3.95 pack is the Bike and MG42 sounds - I think the Bike MG should have been changed to be a little different from the MG42. Sometimes it would ruin my flanks because I would flank and then I would hear/see some MG42 rounds coming at one direction, and I would pull back a little and send a flamer that way, only to realize a split second later that it's a Bike and not an MG42, which would mess up some arrangement of my units, and then I would get caught by the REAL MG42s. I'm sure my opponent would be thinking "what a dumb fool! this is too easy..."

Can anyone else think of sounds that matched each other in-game for Soundpack 3.95? I can't think of any off the top of my head.

You can overwrite the .bsc with your own one, so you could take the other MG files, like the 30cal or the CW mg and use that .bsc and replace the .smf files with your new MG42 .smf files.

It is generally really easy to do, just takes time. However if you want to change the length of the directory in the .bsc you have to edit the hex code:

There are "nice simple steps" attached in pack, if you just unpack you'll find a "readme", read it and follow instructions. Just back up your old sound files and copy and replace the old ones in directory: " ?:\Company Of Heroes\WW2\Archives ".

- if you dont like the soundpack just copy the original files back to folder



Or maybe you should try and re-download... should be fine to just extract with winrar.
