It's been a long discussion about whether 1 land mine will take out a full health tank or does it always take two, well, here's my recipe of the Tank au jus

First, place a mine by the side of the road

Mask it nicely =)

Watch the full health tank gets destroyed

The entire tip is to place a mine by the side of the road(not in the middle as most of the players are used to) so the tank drives over it with the tracks. I guess I had to point that out in the first place.

Oh, okay. I was a tad confused.

And it's still not a 100% thing, you're probably still better off just grouping them. However, I always take explosive leg pouches, if you didn't and you only had three mines then this could be a good strategy to take down vehicles and take added ammunition so you don't have to rely on Assault players.

Placing 2 mines is making them FAR more noticeable. It's more rationall to place them like I do, if you don't destroy the vehicle(I doubt that happening more than once in a dozen rounds) you at least don't waste 2 mines because they were literally eyef*cking every half-competent player. It's not worth it.

Here is the real tip!
Drop first mine in clever location.

Without moving at all throw another mine. It will land in the same spot and look like just one mine smile.gif

This way is 100%, but not always necessary since tanks won't always have full health. Still, better safe then sorry when it comes to tanks.

You waste 2 mines, when you can kill a tank with only ONE by proper placement only.

No, because some people may drive like women in RL: not always in the middle of the road. Then you will either not do any harm at all or damage the tank (70% or something), but he will jump out and repair it.

Rage, you can't drive through a wall, nor would you want to fall down from a cliff smile.gif
Those are the spots for one mine placement (like shown on the pics)

I always drive through walls, houses, trees and stuff...
After 3 years of BF2-tank-stuck-on-a-small-rock-frustration I need that feeling.

What's better? Placing 3 traps with 95% efficiency or 6 with 70%(or even more, I'm intentionally lowering that chance).
Someone should do a research on this

Every time I try this, the 2nd mine bounces off of the first and partially overlaps or lands several feet away. Even though I'm very careful to not alter my camera angle.

When I first started laying mines, very few tanks would be destroyed by hitting one, and would repair before continuing further. My mines were generally on alternating sides of the road, near brush or rocks, so it just seemed better to use groups of two and ensure I destroyed the armor. Now that I've had more time with the game it's worth revisiting.

This is a myth, one-shotting tanks has to do with rear armor multipliers and taking part of the mine damage in the (you guessed it) rear. Works with C4's as well, 1 C4 on the rear of a tank is a 1-shot.

More likely, you're scoring 1-mine kills on already damaged tanks.

Must've changed since the last time I looked. Used to be that side damage was capped at 1.2x.
