This is actually a rough map I made on stream yesterday but it turned out much better than expected.
I edited a few things and thought it's ready to have some GGs on.
Any room for improvements?

Looks pretty nice, haven't seen anything like this. Creative stuff here from Mr. Jundiyy
Now the bad news, it really needs more textures/stuff/miscellaneous stuff to make it better. Also the broken car on top of the volcano righ side looks weird, middle near bunkers needs some more, maybe some more paths, obstacles or buildings. However could be quite a good map, testing needed for sure. Perhaps an extra tech building or 2/3 supply piles near the oils + 1 oil where the redudant islands are on the far right side now would be good. Playing will probably show possible improvement points fast

Where do you suggest the oils exactly? I did feel the right side needed a bit more but I also felt adding anything extra on will make it too much.
The broken technical? I've got other ruined vehicles on the map as well, bomb trucks, POW trucks and a Chinese dozer, you can't garrison them. Just part of the desert ruins.
I made it in this vid yesterday.

Have a look at my other map I just finished as well, I show it near the end of the vid, Exile's been giving me quite a lot of feedback, tested it with me as well. It played quite well.

Looking at the map thumbnail I see this: Attached Image

Seeing pareidolias in maps may mean I should quit. But by that thumbnail I would have called it Boomerang Valley instead. That name would be very difficult to forget, whereas Desert Scorpion contains two words that are used across various maps in that order, especially Desert. But nobody takes names seriously, and if it's Desert terrain, it should probably have Desert in the name.

Anyhow, I actually got to take a look at this one, and I can't disagree with what has already been posted.

First thing I noticed were the ugly, ugly islands.

I know that this isn't the final version and everything will be made prettier then, but golly, this was a Picaso.

Besides that, when flying over those Islands with a Chinook and going to evacuate, around 30% of the time the Chinook would land on the island, evacuate nothing, and fly back up. Not that that means anything in the reality of the game, but it's weird to have that happen.

The same thing didn't happen with the Helix, but somehow, when evacuating the TH's the it decided to drop a Napalm bomb on them, in spite of the order being given and followed before the drop order was given, like it got stuck in Napalm bomb mode. huh.gif

I really like the way you did the hillside entrances for the right, it reminds me of Tiberian Sun entrances that were made when firing on a targetable hillside.

The barrels you put on the path to the oils act like a free, visible (but very,) demo trap, which is fine, but it's funny to see barrels sitting in the middle of an area with nothing else. But I suppose they won't be used 90% of games for anything meaningful.

It's a fine map, but more than anything else, it felt claustrophobic.

Thanks for the feedback, so main thing in this map is just texture so far, apart from Dense feeling the need of extra oils/supplies, which I am waiting for his response, but think a few games on it won't hurt as well before adding them.

I have already made a Draft 2 but won't release it yet.

The mountains on the right have been re-textured and changed a bit already and a bit extra texture added to the middl-ish area.

The barrels, I added them for a bit of fun in to the map, something a bit extra, so like a 1v1 or 1v2 inf battle, if you get the enemy close enough to the barrels and shoot them, you can win the battle smile.gif

Regarding the drop, was it on the top mountain or bottom?

Yes expected, since I hadn't completely made it impassable. There were small areas that were passable.

I've got a few suggestions you may implement into the next draft , if that's coming in the future.
These pathways could be smoothed further more , so that there won't be a time of a vee or tech getting stuck in the terrain

GLA's bomb trucks should have a check mark () on the Indestructible option.
I think you know that when this thing explodes , it hits the planes (that are on top of it) as well. Which shouldn't be a feature. That check mark prevents the explosion accidents .

Perhaps you can set the degree angle of these secondary supply docks to 45 ?
That way it becomes much comfortable in gathering these resources smile.gif

Other then that its quite a good map. Though , i strongly believe Dense's texture suggestion will make the map much beautiful thumb.gif

As well , here's the things I've liked about the map so far :
  1. The overall layout looks interesting and fresh , never have i saw a boomerang shaped battlefield before ohmy.gif
  2. While taking some elements from TD , the oils in the middle with a bit unusual looking hill (unrealistic but a needed one) to have two separate paths in the middle, which is giving this map a variety of what/how to attack your opponent from a different direction (and i like dat smile.gif)
  3. Wooden and Big Ben looking towers are good idea that comes in handy whenever you need to save yourself outa those vees smile.gif
Also , i like the suggested name change
Think this quote from Leikeze is useful as well.

That preview image would put people at ease when selecting the map, especially with the suggested name.

Or it could intimidate.

Thanks for that smile.gif and no you're not late, I'm currently on draft 3, was thinking of a draft 4, been getting feedback from others as well and testing and so on.
What do you mean by getting stuck? I might have missed it, I've flattened it more than before so it allows units to go over it smoothly and if a technical or a fast unit goes over the edge, it will have a slight jump. If that's what you mean?

That would be true if I didn't hack WB lol, muwahahaha laugh.gif, the bomb truck should never explode, even if hit with a scud storm. But yea otherwise I suppose it would be something to consider.

When I said that fast moving units like techs and vees getting "stuck" I was meaning the weird jumps they make and the fact that rockets are being blocked by the terrain. The main/center entrance is flattened very nicely. No hips and bums are seen there. The other entrances should be like it.

I was thinking it had featured the un-selectable script , but not the indestructible one. Apologies on that , all good smile.gif
Supply Dock should be set to 45 degree angle. From the VOD it was seen that it would've taken less time to put down the supply near by if the dock was positioned abit differently. Right now , you have turn your scaffold up to (aprox) 90° angle to fully gather.
EDIT

-Forgot to mention that map's border isn't properly adjusted (very slightly)-
Again , that's how I felt 'bout it. Perhaps multiple test are needed to determine this. Which I can do with you if you want smile.gif
Not sure if the name isn't up to the standard , we have a map that's named 8 and ButterBrot for heaven sakes. Boomerang should be fitting in :3

Hopefully the final version.

Dominator and Boycah played on the map and they think it's fine.
Dominator did say the middle supply dock could have more supplies (increased them now from 15000 to 21000).
Exile thinks its fine, thought the middle supply piles could be moved to the right (have done so in this draft).

Anyone else want to give any more feedback?
